Great set of cans for monitoring applications. Very flat response curve and can take a beating. Good price, only beat in 2013 by US$3 (of course the exchange was unfortunately much better then as well…).

  • Wow. Headphone for the Professionals. it says so on the side. Really good price.

This also looks like it's an over the ear headphone.

99.9% of audio gear the 'pro' is meaningless, but these are the real deal and are good enough for audio production.

      Yup, over the ear.

      • ok i see. For any one who cares here is a video review on Youtube of these headphones. They look pretty good for the price. These are definitely the sort of headphone for the at home use too, not as appropriate for on the move use.

      • I would have thought about buying these Sony's if i didn't already have a set of good headphones a Marley Destiny Collection TTR Pulse over-ear headphone. They sound brilliant so no need for another headphone. This is the deal i got it from Amazon but it was at $24.99 USD at the time but now it's $29.99 USD + delivery. Amazing deal considering the RRP was $299.99 USD.

These Sony MDR-7506 headphones in this thread deal are a pretty good price too.

        • I think you'd see a fair improvement moving from those to the Sonys.

        • @ispace:

In my opinion i wouldn't think so. These Marley's have active noise cancellation which this Sony headphone lacks. The Marley Density TTR was a flagship range and hence the $299.99 USD RRP in the day. The only reason it's cheap now because it's an old model, so is discontinued and what's left of the remaining stock is being sold off at a bargain price.

I would say the opposite. These Marley Destiny TTR headphones would sound better having active noise cancellation as opposed to just closed ear noise cancellation.

They are ok. Seriously, most of the kudos for these relate to durability. They won't die. The sound is ok. For this price, they are useful.

I sold my Audio Technica ATH-M50's in favor of these. Not as coloured, with more accurate bass imo. I use them when traveling as they fold up and sometimes in the studio. The cable is looooong even though it's coiled.

There is a reason why you see these being used in 90% of studios. Great cans.

  • Not sure how you got the $79.99.

Camelx3 lists $89.99 and not in stock.

But everytime I add it to the cart (specifically from seller Amazon) I get $99.95 (obviously it's in stock)

    Weird.

    • Not sure what happened, but tried again just now and it's all good - $79.99.

If you select pickup from a ParcelPoint it's a $1 less for delivery.

      • But then you've got to spend $1 in petrol or other travel expenses just getting to the ParcelPoint location to collect the parcel, unless it's right down the street.

  • Deal is over. Showing in the cart as $99.95 USD + delivery.

  • US$79.99 again!
