  • Osaka -> Tokyo Jetstar
    Tokyo -> Australia Qantas?
    Both flights go in and out of Narita?
    Just allow at least 3 hrs between and you'll be fine.

    Any 2 airline itinerary will require arriving domestic, then going to international and doing check in per always.
    If you fly same airline on the one ticket then you just do transfer (switch terminals, immigration, security, then go to gat) and your checked bag will go through.

    If you research whether you can buy it on the one Qantas.com ticket (unsure if just Jetstar AU on there), if possible it's more ideal than 2x flights. Also if one is delayed they'll put you on another flight home.

    Some other options are Osaka->AU via Kuala Lumpur, Singapore + Hong Kong. Both LLC and full service do those routes. IMO this is better because you do all your immigration stuff in Osaka at the start of the day, and simply transfer to your next flight at the stopover airport.

  • Already bought ticket under one booking, yes out Osaka, in Narita
    Then out Narita, in Oz

    just checked-in Osaka and was told they won't check thru luggage.
    And Jetstar now delays for 40 mins!

    My 3-plus hr window now shrank to 2-plus hr
    Freaking out in Kansai now.
    Tips on getting from T2 to T3 easily?

      Don't stress too much. The train system between airport sections is pretty good. Just make good decisions getting the right train or shuttlebus and you should be good for time.

        Best advice! I have told ourselves not to stress, and it had been a breeze… well, not quite, but at least I didnt scream :-)

      Two hours is heaps of time. Once you check your luggage through to Osaka it's about 10 mins monorail ride to the next terminal. To ease your mind I had 2 hours to make the next flight to Osaka with delays in immigration and taking the wrong luggage and we got on the plane fine. when you get off at Narita, run to immigration because the queue will be crazy long.

  • when we went to japan we were told before the trip that our bags would be checked all the way through, but they weren't. It was ok though, just follow the signs and you will be fine

    • Jetstar has on their website specifically saying that they will check-thru our luggage…
      The shuttle bus in Narita is scary. Fortunately we only have 36 kg between us, didnt use up our entire allowance of 60kg!
