Overwatch Standard PC Game - €19.99 (~ $30AUD) @ Battle.net

910

I nearly bought this game at JB Hifi for $39 but ended up finding it for 19.99 EUR through the Europe battle.net shop. Connected to a French server using VPN, purchased it through my Australian battle.net account and paid with my Aus paypal account using 28 degrees which equates to about $30AUD. Tested it and it works fine across all regions.

^price will change to GBP once signed in with a United Kingdom account.

You just needed to add PayPal as a payment method to your account first.

      • Thanks, it looks like my credit card payment is being held for verification - although they've already debited the account.

  • +8

I don't think you even need to use a VPN. I went to eu.battle.net, clickd purchase, logged into my account and it continued through with EUR transaction.

    • +3

FYI, in-case anyone gets forwarded to the US store when they click purchase. Going to the following link directly worked for me (Paid in EUR with Citi). Cheers W8.

      • Works good job

      • worked great, thanks!

    • no region lock?

      • +2

AFAIK, all Blizzard games are global, you only play in certain regions.

I purchased the base game with my normal Battle.net account from the EU store (19.99EUR), no VPNs or second accounts. I then upgraded to the GOTY edition from the normal store ($10AUD). All up, that makes it around $41.45, using PayPal, for GOTY edition. The JB HiFi version is the Origin Edition @ $39, but you don't get the extra 10 loot boxes.

        • +1

          Is GOTY just special skins?

        • +2

@w8: Yeah. And if you have it on PS4 or Xbox then you can upgrade to origins edition on PC for free.

        • @AustriaBargain: how can I do that?

        • @Paladin:

Link your Xbox one OW account to your Blizzard OW account. All it does is give the standard PC edition the extra Origins Edition content. Nothing else is synced up, all your scores and other skins and stuff stay separate.

  • Even better, good work ozbargainers!

  • tempted to get a second account now

    • I play a fair bit, so a second was worth it for me. It allows me to play and learn new characters, or play with lower friends without fear of dumpstering my SR.

      • my sr is pretty average, I'm genuinely interested if I restarted on a new account if my sr would be higher.

That and I could main a different hero without any pressure

        • +1

i had the same train of thought. I ended placing exactly where my other account was in plat

        • @kurtles: even on a different hero main?

        • @yellowrhino93: Yeah I main D.Va but decided to play Zarya and fully communicated. Was still rough, had a 2 leavers and a thrower, a draw and the rest were won.

        • @kurtles: harsh :/ might as well keep my money haha

    • -4

Bunch of Retards throwing more money at blizzard for this peice of shit game.

      • each to their own mate

        • -1

Buying a game twice is the most Idiotic thing, only R-tards would do it

      • Okay matey, we get it. You're not a fan of the game. "I don't like a game" is not equal to "the game is terrible".

  • +5

Or use Mexican one, I registered a Mexican account (just create one with us.battle.net and set Mexico as your country); then go to Account Settings -> Add your PayPal.

Go to buy Overwatch; you either get the Origin Edition for MXN399 (~29 AUD) or Anniversary for MXN499 (~36 AUD) and gift it to yourself. You might have to wait up to 72 hours (I placed the order at 9pm and got it when i woke up in the morning).

No VPN required for the whole process.

    • Can you do that with existing accounts? Or does it have to be new, and register it as you have described above?

      • +1

I did it with a whole new Mexico account (just for gifting it to my main account).

Signing up a new account is pretty easy; if you use Gmail or GSuite just append a +MX at the end of your email (so [email protected]) and you get a new email dedicated to mexico :D

        • Just tried it, seems like they removed the origin edition. There's only the standard or the game of the year edition, where the price are very similar to the ones OP posted.

    • Thanks mate, got the GOTY edition :)

When you rip off TF2 then charge people for it.

    That's activision for ya..

    • -4

      Tf2 is so bad.

      • -2

Yet it still beats out overwatch according to metacritic.

Not to mention it was built from an actual original concept unlike overwatch which is a straight up copy of TF2.

        • -2

I care very little for those scores people that love the game would be playing it rather then Going to some site to review it.

        • -3

          @Axelstrife:

Is that why you're here giving your opinion on it, might wanna think about your statements next time to avoid contradicting yourself buddy.

    • -4

Agreed, Its even more Unpolished compared to TF2 and less everything, only a slight graphical improvement but a "TF3" could give us that, or TF2 with texture mods.

Overwatch just has so many faults and gets boring pretty fast, lots of disconnecting aka not worth it in australia, less server options, bad play of the game pics, forced replays, silly voting system at the end.

Its like all the left over assets from a good single player game concept and shoved into a make shift multiplayer game just so they can milk more money from people through "online only game" and loot boxes, Like if Bioshock wasn't a Epic single player and online had a online multiplayer mode.

  • +1

Heck i'd rather the $39 at JB and buy it on a card with price protection

    • +1

Honestly I think this deal is easier than waiting for price to drop and bothering to claim with your card company…

    • +10

      I'm 22 and I know a good game

Oh damn, we got an expert over here.

I've been playing since launch — don't understand what you mean by "bad defender spawns". Progressive spawn points are defined for each map and need to be factored in when selecting your teams hero composition. Hardly a development flaw, more of a "your team doesn't select a good hero composition" flaw.

"Bad loot system" is another head scratcher. You receive free rewards based on your performance across the various game modes. If you're cashed up enough, you can buy these loot boxes at ridiculously over-priced costs. Again, hardly a development flaw.

"Constant Disconnecting" — I assume you mean by other players on your team. And by constant, I assume < 5% of the time. Again, non-issue in the scheme of things.

"Play of the game" has about a 90-95% chance of being the best play of the game. It's based on a points system. Sometimes the "best play" according to this points system is a character meleeing a wall while their turret kills three people — and in those scenarios, you laugh with your friends/teammates about how stupid it was.

The voting system is the simplest thing I've ever seen. At the end of the game, four notable stats are brought up giving everybody the chance to commend the relevant player. If you wish to commend that person for their stat, you press a +1 button — which gives that person a +1. I fail to see what makes this a silly system.

Your reasons don't particularly make all that much sense, and you describe a game that is constantly updated (with balancing fixes, new content and events) and attended to by an expansive and well financed development team as "unpolished" without presenting anything of value to support said claim.

Mr. Wanted, at no point in your rambling, incoherent claim were you even close to anything that could be considered an evidenced or rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having read it. I award you one negative vote, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Gotta love that Billy Madison reference! 10/10!

    • It is very similar to TF2 but also different.

TF2 was an extraordinary game when it is was not free. When they went F2P, it started dying. I was still playing on regular basic one month ago, but community is not worth it (kids, hackers, etc.)

TF2 was very simple, so you had to be good and smart.

Overwatch is more sophisticated. So first you focus more on the maps and your abilities. You also have more heroes than TF2.

    • +1

This is the dumbest shit I have read in a LONG time. Well done, you made yourself look like an absolute peanut for no reason.

      • Mate, what are going on about. He's 22 and knows a good game.

  • Really should've tried this game during the free trial, damnit.

    • Well, you still actually have a bit of time. Trial ends at 5pm AEST.

      • With my $hitty internet it probably would take longer than that to download

  • Anyone know of a PS4 workaround? or are all PS4 game bought via PlayStation Plus and no other..

  • +1

This game totally worth every cent paid for.
I bought it cheap but end up paying more to support them.

    • -2

Thats a joke right? Even BF1 has more content witha better looking ame and singple player story mode, and i can buy 4+ wishlisted games on steam for this price

  • I bought the game from Battle.net Europe, no VPN, and I have played the whole week-end. I paid via Paypal.

If you want to support for them, don't buy it more expensive, just buy another game from them.

  • Whats the difference between game of year edition and standard edition?

    • +2

You get skins for your heroes (only vanity items)

      • +1

Money well saved. My ozbargainer doesn't care about vanity. Well given how crap I play it would be lipstick on a pig :)

  • +3

Of course this shows up AFTER I paid $44 at EB :-(

  • -1

Game of the YEAR Edition ever Worth it? for overwatch it seems pretty lame
