or i can hire with hertz
Audi Q7 $117.48 AUD any day of the week.
Audi A4 $98.40 AUD any day of the week.
Audi Q5 $101.33 AUD any day of the week.
I know what i'd choose, given all 3 are better and MUCH bigger cars with unlimited KM
im sure the 3 above prices will also be less for someone 30+.

im pretty sure this is the normal price for a A200

    • +1

Where from - I don't see any of these on their website?

  • Bit expensive to hire a sedan

    • +2

      its a hatchback.

      • +4

        Oh ok. Makes sense

  • +4

    If only A45

    • Now that would be a bargain! Not a entry level Mercedes

  • +15

Nothing says prestige better than an A Class hatch…

  • +4

I searched a few locations in Sydney and I get a B200, not an A180 … sweet .. going to go cruisin' for some milfs

    • +1

With a B200, you'll be picking up some pensioners in no time…

      • +2

Maybe I'll drive to Sydney's western suburbs and pick up some 25-year-old granny's instead :)

  • -2

Buy a C-Class sedan and drive it for 10 years, it is way cheaper than hiring one

    • +3

What's your point? Buy a camry/accord and drive it for 25 years … cheaper than buying a c-class

      • -1

Why drives an Accord if you can afford a Mercedes Benz. BTW, I used to drive a Accord, but Mercedes Benz has a much better engine and it still feels so good after 5 years. Accord's engine is good in the first three years, then it feels a bit…

        • +2

Why drives an Accord if you can afford a Mercedes Benz.

          Huh? I can afford a lamborghini, but I still drive a Hyundai … it's OZB …

        • -1

I believe a lot of people in Oz bargain can afford Benz, but few buys Benz just because they can afford it. Because most of don't buys stuff with Ego.

    • What if I only drove it for 9 years?

  • Unless its A45 AMG… Or there isn't really much too offer

Really, really bad reviews of this company.

    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/europcar.html

    • +2

Every car rental company has terrible reviews. Nobody thinks to leave a good review if they had a positive experience, just a negative one when something goes wrong.

    • +5

Friend of mine had bad experience with Europcar. They reckon he damaged the car when he had not.

Apparently they have been doing stuff like that for years.

  • pensioners that don't need knee replacements, front seat is very limited.

  • last time I checked 4.5K excess… for a Yarris

    • Surely you could replace the whole car for around the price?

      • Exactly my thoughts

    • You can get insurance policies that cover the excess. Some car hire aggregators even include it (or can be added for a relatively small fee). Try holidayautos as an example. Well worth it for the piece of mind.

      • that's what I ended up doing and also went with another company that had a slightly less, yet equally bad excess of 3.5k. Its absurd to have to do that though, given you pay regardless of fault with no chance of getting it back if proven you're not at fault. I despise the way all car rental companies do this.

        • Yep!
I once hired a car (form some crappy little car hire company in Melbourne), it was parked on the street in a dedicated car space cut into the nature strip. Some stupid P-plater came around the corner too fast in her dad's car, lost control and swiped the car down the passenger side… so she was driving down the footpath.

I got stung for the excess and got told it was up to me to get it back from her. She was uninsured, and her dad was a deadbeat, so the only way I was going to get any cash out of them was to sue them. So i ended up $3K out of pocket, and my solicitor said it's not worth suing them because they likely have bugger all to take anyway.

Worse still, the police drove by at the time but didn't do anything about it or report it because no one was injured. Lucky it was early in the morning because the footpath she was driving down is directly in front of a kindergarten.

        • @braddsey: that is an expensive and infuriating turn of events. I've heard of terrible stories of insurance companies trying to scam ppl for scratches and dents that weren't there when the car was returned. I always get insurance or avoid using a rental if possible. rather pay slightly more for uber if available then deal with the hassle

        • +1

So true about the police. Had similar experience with new police. The don't care as long as no injury and car is drivable. (profanity).

  • +2

be careful of these folks. the last time that i hired a car from europcar, my credit card was billed with a purchase made in russia. fortunately the credit card complany blocked the purchase and cancelled the card and issued me with a new one. europcar on princes highway, clayton, victoria. watch out

  • So small i can't get my golf stuff in the boot.

    • Why didn't you hire the golf?

      • +8

He did, but it won't fit in the boot of the A180.

  • +7

It's always been my desire, to hire a German Corolla

  • Just on this topic, I was wanting to hire a nice car, something sporty for our wedding anniversary. Anyone got any suggeations? $100 or under. In Melbourne. Was contemplating a Toyota 86 just coz it's a bit different to our standard family SUV and cheapish last time I looked. Thanks

    • +1

The 86 is a fantastic track car… but it drives like a track car… very low, not comfortable, and rough over bad streets. It's a blast to drive fast around corners etc, but it wouldn't be anything that could be construed as anything romantic. Then again your partner might find it fun getting flung around a car cabin! :D

hehe I genuinely laughed out loud at that gem of a comment!

Rather rent the Aviato car for $49USD per day
    https://turo.com/rentals/suvs/ca/millbrae/ford-escape-aviato…

  • I heard A series is the lowest of Mercedes. Not even as good as a Civic. So bucks for vanity?

  • hahaha second comment on this thread that actually made me laugh out loud! I would rent that car so fast!

  • The A class is garbage. Cheap interior, mediocre dynamics and uncomfortable ride. Just made for ignorant badge snobs. Unless its an A45, I wouldn't waste your time and money renting what is essentially a Renault Megane…and even that is better what it is vs the A-Class. If you want to rent a Merc, get the C-Class. But then again there are certain ignorant people who think everything with a Merc badge is prestigious and if you think this is worth it well…you know what sort of person you are.
