Car Rental Brisbane Airport

Hi guys,

The wife is meeting her sister in Brisbane and wants to hire a car for 5 days in November. Came across https://www.bargaincarrentals.com.au/locations/brisbane-airp… which is offering $130 for the 5 days for an i20 or similar which is significantly cheaper than the majors which are around $230.

Read mixed reviews about them so thought I'd seek some ozbargain guidance on whether this is worth taking up or may be some codes floating around which would make the majors more comparable. Thanks

Are you with a motor club like Racq.
I had a hertz Camry in Jan and it was around $180 for the week.
I'm guess a small car is cheaper.

Edit. Just looked at hertz and 5 days came at $157 for a swift and $159 for a corolla or qashqai. A corolla or qashqai would be a bit more comfy than an i20. And I trust hertz more than that other crowd.

    • Thanks @PVA

Those rates with Hertz - Was that direct through the with no coupon codes?

Not part of a motor club unfortunately.

    • Hi PVA - Chucking in dates for Nov 7 - 12 shows the cheapest @ $213. Mind sharing how you got those prices?

      • I put dates for July I think. Maybe it remembered the racq code I used from last time. No idea what it was though.

    hertz use
    HERTZ CDP number 114321

Really? That code increases the price by like 40% for me.

    • Yep using that code showed up prices at $312 as per my post above :(

Removing the code brings it down to $213

  • If you dont mind jumping in a mini bus to get to your rental car and vice versa on the return then yeah good deal. But if you want big 4 convenience at an extra price then arrive pick up keys go to car leave

    • Probably prefer the big ones just for piece of mind

  • Thrifty with RACV/NRMA membership was cheap, don't forget insurance: https://tripcover.com.au/ (you can use cash rewards for the last one)

    • RACQ includes insurance, well a heaps lower excess . Something like $3000 down to $800-$1000 so no need for extra.
I would have thought other motoring clubs would be the same.

  • Have a look at Apex car rentals. Used them in Queenstown NZ and Brisbane airport. They use older cars so are a bit cheaper. Happy both times.

  • Just a quick update that we ended up going with Hertz on a drive 5 pay 4 deal on their website (promo section)

Ended up costing $175 all in for a Toyota Corolla or similar.

    Cheers to everyone who contributed.
