Recommend Travel Insurance

Hi,

I am going to India in January for 2.5 weeks with a 14 hour layover in Kuala Lumpur on the way, which I'll go out and meet a few friends etc. Don't have any pre-existing conditions, mid 20's.

Saw a thread of World2Cover with some talk on there about onlinetravelinsurance too.

But who are some of the companies that you would recommend looking into?

Also… I booked one way (Mel > KL) on my Amex — But it has to be a round trip for it to qualify for the insurance? Just to double check.

Thanks in advance.

    • damn thanks for that, good saving, also used a code "TIDSAVE" from the honey app to get extra $20 off

      • I've had to claim with them before and they were great

      • Honey app? Can you please elaborate as i am looking at TID too.
        Thanks

Browser add in that gives you coupon codes

    • Thanks I'll give a look into them now. Awesome to hear the claim process was pretty painless for you too

  • Read through your amex pds, my bank credit card provides travel insurance if I spend $500 in pre-paid travel on it, with no return flight requirements.

    • thanks for the tip, though my flight was only 200 or so but i'll keep that in mind for next time.

      • Cover is effective when You pay the full fare for a return trip
for a Trip on the American Express Platinum Reserve Credit Card
Account or with American Express Membership Rewards points.

Try your bank to see if you have cover included. Mine is included for free and didn't even require me to use my bank cards to book the holiday (commbank platinum homeloan package). Backed by Allianz.

I use the travel insurance which comes free with my credit cards. Before this however I always used Travel Insurance Direct

  • I travel overseas about 10 times a year and have found Priceline protects insurance to be the best and cheapest provider.

    • Thanks, I'll look into them and see how it goes :)

I have used TID in the past. But nowadays I use my creditcard. But conditions for my creditcard state I must buy return tickets with it.
