Ergo Office Chair around 500 Bucks?

Hi Guys,

I'm in the market for a ergo office chair, budget is around 500 bucks. It has to have decent lower back support and good for sitting for long periods of time e.g. 7 hrs a day.

Any recommendations or deals going around?

Herman Miller Sayl - Although might need to see how suited it would be for 7 hours.

    • Would it be classed as an ergo chair do you think?

We have them in our Meeting rooms at work - I think they are more classified as like a task chair or meeting chair - But I find them pretty comfortable for the price. I don't think they are a necessarily an "ergo" chair though, but may fit the bill.

    • Looks good, dont see a price for it tho?

      • we paid $525 for full black with arm rests

        • incl delivery?

    • Forgot to ask you how comfortable it is?

      • incl delivery, i ordered one for work, and now 14 others have the same chair, out of an office of 60.
they do a free trial if its for a workplace

        • Are the armrests adjustable? Not a biggy for me as the chair height is adjustable.

        • @finny7:
yup all adjustable, arms, the pressure needed to lean back, the seat position and height

How about one of these chairs for $299 delivered?
No need to spend all $500. This is OzBargain after all :-)

Or spend a little more and get the Mark II version

I work from home a lot and spend more hours a week than is ideal sitting down on the $299 chair.
It's very comfortable with good back support.

    • Thanks Pete, I work from home myself. Does you chair have armrests or is it not available for this model?

Good question. My chair came with armrests which I removed. Don't like them on work chairs.

Subsequent chairs which I purchased for other people to use didn't have arm rests.

Looking at the underside of a chair which never had armrests, I see threaded holes for the arm rest brackets to be screwed into.
I still have the arms and brackets so if you're an armrest lover and cannot find a chair with them for a sensible price, PM me and I'm sure we can come to an agreement.

    • Picked up the buro metro II during the last ebay staples 20% sale for $295 delivered. Couldnt be happier with it.

I have the V2 at work but this V1 at home Ergohuman V1.

Has good back support and head rest. Mesh is vital nowadays for goof airflow and durability.

    • Seen that one, that looks like it has good back support

I'm in a similar position although I'm not going to buy a chair unless I sit in it first and I may spend more.

At the moment brands I've considered without looking yet are Steelcase, Hermann Miller and Ergodirect. I believe only Ergodirect are in within your budget though.

I have read a lot of good things about the Steelcase Leap and the Hermann Miller Aereon and the Ergohuman but I am going to sit in the for a good long time before I pay for one.

    • Anybody any experience with these Aldi chairs?

      • I've never used one but they've a pretty easy returns policy if it didn't work out. Just the pain in collecting, building, dismantling and returning if it doesn't meet your requirements - it would however save you $400 if it turns out to be good. HOWEVER - this is one of the last office chairs ALDI sold and the comments don't look good: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/268771

  • I got a steelcase leap for 150 bucks off gumtree. Its in great condition, really comfortable and fully adjustable. I scored a bargain for sure.

Thanks for all the helps guys.

  • This is what we have at work and it's very comfy. Planning to buy one for our home office http://www.jpofficeworkstations.com.au/xagon-office-chair/?d…
