NSW Parking Fines

Received a parking fine in North Sydney earlier today, are there any negative ramifications if I don't actually pay it? (will pay, just curious)

Assumed they go through rego and mail you a court summons?

Q: Has anyone just not paid it? If so, what's happened?

Cheers

    fines keeps going up
if you dont pay you get your licence cancelled.

    • I can vouch for that. I thought I'd be rebellious & not pay a parking fine around 20 years ago. Licence got cancelled & ended up costing me more. Should've just sucked it up & paid.

The government sends bikies to your house.

Blue bikies I think they're called.

Either way they're all crooks, Mafia, government, at this point I'm not seeing any functional difference. (well, OK the Mafia are more organised and compassionate…)

  • Your licence gets suspended after 3 months of non-payment and they take you to court to get it garnished.

    • I wonder how much that process costs relative to the actual fine?

      • I'm guessing they'd add court costs?

What happens if I do not pay my penalty notice?

If you do not pay or finalise your penalty notice by the due date, we will send you a penalty reminder notice giving you a further 28 days to pay or finalise the fine.

If you do not pay or finalise the penalty by the due date on the reminder notice, we will begin enforcement action by issuing an Unpaid Fine order. It will have an additional $65* fee added to the amount you already owe and if it remains unpaid by the due date, we will commence debt recovery action and further costs will be added.

Note: *$25 if the person is under 18.

Just pay for it. Otherwise you'll get more fines, then suspension, then court, then may affect your credit rating, then it's hard for you to find a job, then you are not able to buy a home because you are too risky to be given a loan and you don't have the money (no job), then your girlfriend might not want to marry you and your parents might distant you as you can't give them a grandchild, then … ok I cant make this up anymore. Just pay it.

  • Pay it, but wait for the reminder first though. Money is better in your account than theirs.

  • After they take your stuff…..then….No more Eneloops for you….EVER!

  • Licence, rego cancellation with increased fees, then garnishee your bank and wages, If that doesn't work the sheriff is sent around and takes your property and if all that fails, you can still be arrested and sent to gaol. But since the young guy was killed in prison for unpaid fines, that is not a popular option nowadays.
    PS:each action has fees added.
