  • Won't you have to pay GST when the item is brought back into the country?

    • Depends if you are travelling by yourself or with someone else as you can pool the threshold i.e $1800 for 2 people. The drone will also be depreciated when you arrive back so less than the original amount

      • So, you don't pay GST on arrival for goods up to $900, per person - this is per https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Ente/Tour/Are-you-a-traveller.

But do they actually search for goods and check value, perhaps check what you claimed within TRS while leaving AU, or are we talking a situation that upon arrival one actually goes to the counter and eagerly states 'I've brought a $2000 drone with me, let's tax it'?

What border.gov.au (see above) says is that you need to pay the entire GST of goods claimed under TRS anyway, but.

        • They won't search you, they dont even have a record.

          It's all honesty system based.

        • @crazycs:

          It's all honesty

I don't feel better now, but yeah, good to know.

          Thanks!

        • @pizzaguy: You could always declare it. At custom, tell em that you have claimed TRS and you have been away for X amount of days. Since it has been opened and you have been away, the goods have depreciated, most likely the 'value' will be under $900. Hope it will make you feel better.

  • I dont think claiming TRS pricing should be allowed, since it applies to any small electrical item and is only relevant to someone planning to travel soon (and who is willing to take the item with them)

    • +1

Geez, these days I travel every second week thanks to all the posts from IWTF…..

    • -1

Exactly. TRS should never be included on deals posted. Anything else eligible can also be TRS.

    • +3

I don't think TRS maneuver is included.

$1638 ebay price - 20% code = $1310, which is exactly what the title of this deal says.

      Cool down, all good!

      • +4

Correct Pizzaguy. TRS is not included in the title, i simply included it in the post as additional information for anyone travelling!

I think DJI spark will make this redundant

    • Mavic is more superior in terms on quality. Spark doesn't shoot 4k and Raw image format.

    • Distance and battery is doubled too in Mavic

      • …but so is the weight.

If JPEG/30fps is fine for you, you can get 4 spare batteries for the Spark and have 1hr 25min flying time and still weigh less than the Mavic.
The controller that comes with the fly more package increases the range to 0.5km at least.

I don't think the Spark will make the Mavic redundant at all though, lots of people want RAW, 4K, 60Mbps, 3-axis gimbal, and 1080p60. But lots of people don't, so the Spark will certainly sell well at half the price!

        • 60 fps is turd on Mavic

        • @cyrax83: If you're flying out-of-the-city where there are no straight lines I think it'll be OK. Someone on the dji forums mentioned their new-build Mavic had none of the earlier 60fps problems, dunno how accurate that report is.

    • The Spark is a selfie drone, the mavic is a great flying camera platform. I have over 20hrs on my Mavic and it is a great choice.

    • Maybe do some research first

    • Take a look at the other discussion about dji spark vs mavic in the other posts https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/308963#comment-4737359

    • Spark is purely a pocket / selfie drone.

Mavic is on another class, Mavic is a combo of mobile photography drone and pilot drone.

      • +1

Cashrewards? Goto their website linked by op. Setup an account. Follow cashrewards' link to ebay and purchase. Your purchase should track through their system.

  • I got it at a similar price recently. Amazing drone don't think twice just get it.

Dji prices don't go down much even after a new model comes out

Spark is not comparable it's on a different class of drones (pocket).

  • Surprise surprise. Out of stock.

    • I add it to the cart when I saw this and pinned that page on chrome….
