170

Some decent (faux) craft beer specials this month.

Cricketers Arms Spearhead Pale Ale 330mL, 6pk @ $12
Endeavour Reserve Pale Ale 330mL, 6pk @ $15
James Squire One Fifty Lashes Pale Ale 330mL, 10pk @ $20
Gage Roads Sleeping Giant IPA 330mL, 6pk @ $16 with a bag of chips

Cricketer's Arms Spearhead is a pretty good drop (brewed at Asahi), as is the Gage Roads Sleeping Giant. Haven't tried the Endeavour. I included the One Fifty Lashes because people seem to like it and it's a good price for this average beer.

  • 3 redemptions per offer, per card, per day. Offers valid 1 June 2017 — 31 June 2017.

Dan's have created an extra day in June just for this offer!

  • Cricketers is definitely the pick of the bunch, a really nice beer, and at 5.2% it's definitely better bang for buck than the Squires which is the same price per unit but in a can.

In terms of abv, for sure! Amusingly though, it's slightly lower rated on beer sites.

That said, they're all pretty much rated the same, there is nothing standout this month, just cheap ~average beers.

I personally like the Gage Roads IPA better than the others.

  • Thanks I'll try ca.. Fifty Lashes is one of my favorites but it's a little light.

If you're in WA, Gage Roads Little Dove New World Pale Ale is on sale for $69.90. Highly recommend this beer!

    • Good choice! It's in my top 11-20% of craft beers thus far =)

Beer snobbery is so cool apparently. Thanks OP. I'll buy one of each

      Go back to your VB.
Btw, these are not even the medium tier of craft beers.

Wow, my first neg votes. Sorry for hurting your feelings…It was a joke…

-Endeavour Amber Ale is the highest rated of the bunch at only 51 on Rate Beer. $15 for that is asking too much.
-150 Lashes was much recently cheaper at Dan's ($13/10cans)
-Asahi's Cricketers Arms range is not good - eg their IPA (not included in the offer) is in the 4th lowest percentile of IPAs
-Sleeping Giant IPA is a restrained English style IPA, not a US style hop bomb. Could be good for newbies to IPAs?
-James Boags, Carlsberg and Kingfisher offered are an unfunny joke.
-440mL Guinness cans for $14 are a good deal (equivalent to $10.5/300mL), probably better than the faux craft above.

Two dud months in a row from the sponsor of GABS…

Good summary, thanks. Saved me from trying the Gage IPA as I prefer plenty of hops.

      • Gage Roads Little Dove New World Pale Ale is Gage's hoppy IPA. It is accordingly by far the most expensive of their range.

        • Nice, thanks - will try!

  • I tried some Endeavour Pale Ale on the weekend, I rate it as one of the worst beers i have tasted.
Even the carbonation was weak. I binned the other 5 bottles.

    • Yes, I tried it and thought it was pretty average too. I bought the Spearhead again and I still think it's a decent drop as others here have testified. It's not a malt and hop explosion - it would be bland compared to something like Pirate Life - but well-made and drinkable.

  • Anyone know which of these pale ale has the fruitiest taste?

    • Definitely Cricketers Arms Scorcher Summer Ale.
