Apple iPhone 6 Plus Touch Disease

Fellow Ozbargainers

This post is to see if you (like me) are affected by Apple iPhone 6 Plus's Touch Disease. (See Poll)
And then maybe ACCC or an Australian law firm will look at the numbers, and sue them - like they are getting sued in USA.
It'd be an easier job here if a favorable ruling is reached over there.

For a more articulate description go to iFixit or McCuneWright California

The latter link takes you to California lawyer's website who are suing Apple in USA over the same defect.
However, I noticed that no one in Australia is doing the same. I don't know why. We know there are users who are affected by it. People are talking about it on Whirlpool Forums and Apple Australia has acknowledged the defect by offering a repair (for a cost of $229 with 90 days warranty) - even though it fixes nothing and defect keeps coming back.
Typical…

    Android FTW!

  • I've since upgraded to a 7 but my 6+ did get the touch disease after about 20 months. apple replaced for free. :)

  • Guess I've been lucky so far, going on nearly three years for my iPhone6+ with no issues.

  • Probably not related but my original iphone 6 (not a plus model) absolutely fried itself. I was sending a txt message and the touch screen got laggy, then I changed the orientation and the screen completely glitched out, rebooted and then I just got a blank screen with graphical glitches on it saying "iPhone cannot be used at the moment. Please try again later".. or something along those lines.

Apple replaced it, but the replacement is clearly a refurb - the front of the display doesn't quite sit in place correctly and the screen often is non-responsive and has to be hard rebooted for it to come back.

Looks like the 6 line of phones were a bunch of duds. Here's hoping whatever they pull outta their #$*&!s for the next one is half decent, otherwise it's back to Android land for me.

  • Mine developed touch disease after 18 months (6+) apple replaced no questions asked! sold the refurbished phone on eBay and bought a 6s+ on gumtree. They are expensive products but at least they know what customer service is.
