Earn at least $35,000 per year

Just thought it was worth saying a third time …. I guess.

        • I would just back the above up by saying that you need to earn at least $35,000 per year.

        • Can confirm. You need to earn at least $35,000 per year.

        • -1

@ronnknee: Could be that its $US in which case its closer to $50,000 per year
          .

    • +7

Irrelevant, we all know that most ozbargainers here earn $100K+

      • …………And have an AMEX with free lounges for 2 plus persons :)
AND Considering the cost of redemptions with Qantas for 'additional fees & charges' Qantas points are not worth much.
Does anyone want to swap my Qantas FF points for their Cathay Pacific Asia Miles? hehe!

  • Annual fee :(
    60K QFF points :)

    Sign me up!!!

  • +3

Terrible deal. ANZ FF Black is much better with $0 annual fee first year and 75000 points.

    • +2

What is the next best option after banking 75K?
I think it is very competitively priced.
Another good option is Westpac with 80K for $195 in the 1st year.
If you are like me who has already signed up for all the free cards in the mkt and is willing to pay then this card is not a bad deal at all.

      • +1

Next best option would be the St George Amplify credit card. Quote EB when you call up to enquire about the card and they should waive the annual fee for the first year for you

        • Wow - after seeing the chaos here - I didn't signup for it. I left my application mid way so still hv that email promising waver of 1st year annual fee.
          Will try my luck soon.

        • I'm interested in this, what does EB stand for to get the fees waved?

        • @Geoff-bargain:

That was the promo code you need to apply to get the fees waived. However St George decided to pull a fast one and change the terms to include an annual fee. So a few people have applied for the card, quoted the code EB to ensure they get no annual fees for the first year.

        • Thanks

    • +3

Lots of people are inelligible for that one. Either already holding one or not enough income. This is still a good deal on its own

  • The no cap of points is really the major benefit over other QFF cards which have caps

    • Yes, but I think the earn rate drops to 0.5 after 10K spend.

      • $10k spend per statement period is quite high. I wouldn't hit it thankfully

        • Well if you are seeking to earn points one may want to go over $10K in a month.

      • Maybe aimed at blocking high earning QFF by 'professionals' reselling giftcards etc.

  • Am I right to see this as $450 profit? 60K points can be sold for $600 - the annual fee?

    • +1

Plus $100 for 2 Qantas lounge passes - but I think Qantas is going to issue them in a digital format, but reckon they still can be transferred like points.

      • -1

Digital passes, and 'selling' QFF will get you a red card.

    • +1

Yep, it's not that uncommon though. See ANZ Black deal 75K and $0 fee equals $750 profit. Still a good deal IMO.

      • I just did the amex explorer with 100,000 points which I used on a purchase which took off $760

        • +3

which I used on a purchase which took off $760

Should have sold the points for $1,000 cash instead

        • Rookie error, where are they normally sold? Ebay?

        • @Geoff-bargain: You can sell them on OzBargain classifieds for $0.01 per point. You can sell Amex MR points directly, but it is probably easier to convert them to VFF and then sell those points.

        • +1

@tomclancy: Just be advised that doing this frequently is likely to get you caught. They don't seem to have any algorithmic dodgy detector, but they do notice if you've transferred to many and varied parties, all supposedly belonging to your family.

If you need to do it, do it sparingly and cautiously.

  • I was hoping for a higher bonus when this came out.

ANZ Black might be a better deal, but for those who don't meet the income requirements, this is a good option.

    • True. Coming directly from Qantas I was expecting atleast 100K - don't know why but the signup bonus is a let down!

    • +2

For such a low bar minimum income, you can probably apply for this one after applying for ANZ/Westpac Black offers (I'll be holding off until Aug 31 to give myself time to spend).

  • I don't want to sell my info to them so cheaply, wait until they offer a decent deal.

    • +2

They already have your info… but there is a possibility that they come out with a Black/Platinum/Signature offer later on and current holders are ineligible. Anyone have any inside info about future deals?

      • Agree - there will be better to come, higher income card I suspect

  • Geez bit of a let down with the sign on bonus. So it seems these are my options:
    Hilton Macquarie cc
    Westpac Altitude Black
    ANZ Black
    Qantas cc
    HSBC cc

    • -2

      ANZ black has a $425 PA rate….OUCH!!!

      • +2

It's no annual fee for the first year

  • -8

It's like a nose landing on a certain runway and a blownup engine on a A380…….the Aussie battler has got a pie in the face from the offering!

    • Now the question is do the points post as soon as you meet the min spend so you can cancel it and avoid paying the annual fee.

      • +1

"Bonus Qantas Points will ordinarily be credited within 6 - 8 weeks of meeting the spend criteria"

  • Pretty good value for a non amex I have been looking for a decent non amex card for my other bills etc to avoid surcharges etc.

  • Wish they would upgrade your QFF status

  • -1

Used to be a decent card.
Now the point earn is offensive for a Qantas owned card.
I cancelled my card with them out of utter disgust when they changed their earn rates within 6 months of me signing on.

    • +5

Given this is an entirely new product, I'm not quite sure what you're talking about here…

      • -3

Oh, had it confused with Qudos bank credit card. This is probably the same mob. Same point earn.

        • +1

Actually they're not the same mob. This is offered by citi.

  • Reduced annual fee of $149? Gee, the RRP must represent good value for the average schmuck.

  • +3

I would advise against getting it at the moment. This card is a complete flop compared to the ANZ Black — Qantas should have done a far better job at a directly controlled product.

As a result, take-up will be slow. They will be increasing the sign-on bonus in a few months in an effort to boost customer numbers. My guess would be 80-100K points in 3-6 months.

    • I think they'll be those who don't earn the 75k required for the ANZ black that will take up this card.

    • I kind of of agree. I am going to wait and see till mid aug. If they don't come up with a premium card, my sense is that they may keep offering exclusive offers for qantas credit cardholders.

  • Which credit card is the best atm for a 50-60k salary? (Already got a amex explorer but need a non amex now)

Anz platinum - 50k signup bonus $0 first year annual fee, but no lounge passes and lower qantas points earn

Or this Qantas premier card with $149 fee and 60k bonus and lounge access

Or any other cards in the market you know of?

    • +1

$150 for 10k plus lounge passes is marginal - really depends how highly you value points/lounge access.

The zero commitment of the ANZ Platinum makes it a winner in your situation IMO.

  • This is an ok deal but if Qantas are serious about signing up people they need to "Enhance" their product and offer no AF for the first year.

If they do that just watch this card get ozbargained.

  • what is the foreign currency fee charged for overseas purchases on this one? who is the card issuer?

  • I think 3% and issuer is Citibank

  • thanks but no thanks Citibank.

  • +1

    Hello everyone,
Could you please share your tips for meeting the 3k spend

    • +2

Prepay several months (or more) on utility bills.
If you're paying for anything by the month (e.g. insurance), ask to pay the year upfront.
Buy discounted gift cards (5% Coles or Woolies cards).
If you know any students, pay their fees on the card.

    • +3

Pay off my bills. I'll pay you back, I promise.

    • +4

Book a fully refundable business flight 360 days in advance and cancel it after you've cashed out your points.

  • +1

My partner works for Qantas - and has been offered the same deal with no fee - worthwhile?

    • +4

60K QFF points for no fee is, of course, a great deal.

  • hahah..my application got rejected. Sign to wait for better deals from Qantas?

  • I've appleied for the card but haven't got an email even a confirmation that it's being reviewed. Applied during the weekend. Is that normal?

  • same I didn't get any confo email. I called 5 days later to be told my app has been rejected and I would soon receive a letter.

    • oh shoot doesn't sound goood…. why would they reject tho?

  • I think they rejected mine as iv recently applied for one card too many - explorer in Nov'16; ANZ FF in Feb'17; AMX DJ and Westpac Plat in Apr'17 and St George in July.
hv closed anz ff and waiting for wespc and st george to credit the signup bonus before I get rid off them.

    • +1

haha I think i've applied for more than you lol..

    • U applied ST.Geogre by phone or at the branch? Can u get no fees for the first year?

  • By phone and yes u can get no annual fee for the first year. Good thing to ensure wud b to hv ur ac open for few days with some balance. Currently they hv an offer on one of the saving accounts offering $50 bck for depositing 500 in first 45 days. Hv a read if u alrdy dnt hv an a/c.

    • Thanks. That's Complete Freedom acc. Opened few weeks ago, just waiting for $50 cashback.
