I saw this old guy searching through a Blizzard battlechest at a Salvos op shop the other day. I think they were asking $15 or so. It made me understand why you never really find any games in op shops if you have fools like that with that much time on their hands.

    • +2

So he was buying games at Salvos just like you were but he's the fool?

      • I guess I didn't explain myself. People buy games from op shops for more than what you can get them for elsewhere. Thinking back on it now, I think it was a warcraft 3 battle chest, and a worn condition one at that.

You can get new release hardcover books for $3 at op shops, but games are few and far between.

        • +1

Same as eBay and computer markets then. People assume it's cheap without shopping around and end up overpaying.

        • @bobjane: yep. And as a collector that loves scavenging through op shops and donating to charities, I wish there was a better chance of finding the odd game here or there, but too often it's Brain Training DS in the glass cabinet under the counter because it's SUPER VALUABLE!

Should put overwatch origins edition-$39 in the title as that is one of the lowest prices ive seen on it, would get the post more attention.

    • Thanks will do, Overwatch was the last thing I saw and since I don't play it personally didn't think to put in the title (really wanted that Diablo expansion). It has been cheaper before, around $37 in mid-May at some point (not sure if it was a physical copy or digital)

      • Thats fair enough, I had no idea it went for $37 recently.

        • Neither did I, till I look it up to compare. but hey! this is probably the cheapest physical copy you can get right now.

I paid $30 didn't look very hard did you.

i have both part 1 and 2 of starwars 2. the only part i dont have yet is legacy of the void. should i just get that for $18 or the battlechest will include something extra/bonus for extra $10?

    • +1

If you want to pay the extra $10 from what I can see, a bonus character for another blizzard game (Bonus: Also includes Artanis in Heroes of the Storm (free to play btw)). I suggest the $19 expansion instead.

      • thanks.

    • +4

      Starwars?

      • Maybe aec is looking for Revenge of the Sith.

  • +1

Should probs get part 3 4 5 7 and 8 really. Don't wanna miss out do ya? 9 will be out soon

    • +2

You missed 6, arguably the best one

      • 2 > 1 > 3 >>> 6 >>> 8 >>>>>>>> 5 >>>>>>>>>>> 7

  • MEGATON!!

    • +3

That one is different than the one OP posted.
The equivalent one is still selling at $29.97 @ EB

      • +1

Yup, my mistake the one I linked only has Heart of the Swarm and Wings of liberty

        • +3

Nah not your fault. Blame Blizzard doing bizarre product naming

        • @justwii: I agree it makes no sense. Just like Civilization IV Complete (does not include Colonization) is different to Civilization IV Complete Edition (includes Colonization).

  • World Of Warcraft Online (was originally called battlechest but think they added in Cataclysm expansion as well)

The base game / battlechest comes with all of the expansions excluding the current one (which is Legion) as well as a free month of game time. Pretty great value for $14 but it should be cheaper in Blizzard's annual black friday sale later this year.

    • Yeah, this usually goes down to $5USD during Blizzards sales, which only happen once or twice a year. It's also only available digitally at that price.

    • Thanks for letting me know, I don't play WoW so I wouldn't know how many expansions there are. Yea, I remember last year the battle chests were going for $9 at some point.

  • +2

Although it's posted elsewhere in a separate deal, World of Warcraft: Legion is also down to $29, cheapest i've ever seen it. It's still $47 at eb games and $67 online.

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/pc-game/w…

I finally bought it, had been considering it for a while but didn't want to pay full price.

    • Legion was a wicked fun burst of 2-3 months, definite improvement over WoD, but they dropped the bundle in a few areas which just killed the game off for me again. Worth the dosh for a first look though.

      • Yeah, Legion doesn't do well in the longevity area, but for a burst of fun, it's good for a month or 2.

I play only to do my daily emissary now, most of the rest of my gaming time goes into Overwatch

      • +1

Yeah i've heard similar things, a lot of praise about this one. I always used to play Alliance though, as did my bf and my mate from work. We decided to make a horde character together which we are leveling from the beginning. Since it's been a good 3 years since i've played i'm hoping i'll get more out of it as I never played through pandaria, Draenor and now legion so I have a decent amount of new content to keep me occupied (I hope) for a while.

        Thanks for the input! :D

    SC2 battle chest so cheap

  • +1

I was going to make a post with Diablo chest/exp cheap but got the expansion and couldn't stop playing it :P well worth the $15 if you have base already. Been waiting ages for it to be cheap.

    • The expansions and seasons made the game a lot better but it still extremely repetitive. If you want a similar game that is a lot more fun, try Grim Dawn.

      • Yeah I've been meaning to try it, I feel I'm bordering the grind part of D3 as I am now paragon 20 and finished all campaign. Trying adventure mode, I'll give it a couple weeks and it'll be put down for months again.

        • You've only just scratched the surface of end game if you're only paragon 20. There's quite a lot of end game viable builds to try out. My non-season account is over paragon 1000 which is nothing these days.

  • Somehow the other week I managed to pick up the Starcraft 2 Battle Chest for $14 in store, no idea why it was that cheap.

    • Which store?

      • Strand Arcade Sydney. I don't think it's on sale anymore. It was just the original game and Heart of the Swarm, no Legacy of the Void.

  • Makes me feel salty buying LoTV beginning of this year for $19 when I can pay another $10 for the complete bundle?

  • It's been a while since a bought a hard copy of a pc game. If I get overwatch do I need the game disc to launch the game every time? Or do I just get a redemption code inside to redeem it on battle net?
