      • Yup the shopping square one seems to sit around $60 delivered with or without a current promotion.

  • +1

Only one left but $47.50 delivered here with C5OZ if anyone wants it for the cheapest. Edit: Gone already lol.

Otherwise there are other retailers around on eBay for cheaper.

  • any bargains for 200gb version?

All around $54 delivered (Local stock).

The higher AUD$ before helps too. Think the Amazon stock's have dropped to $50 before or thereabouts. But not worth it to save the 4 bucks.

      • Thanks! just saying..

  • This or a Samsung one?

    • Price of Samsung one?

You can get the EVO Select 128GB on Amazon for $44.99 USD plus shipping (shipping is negligible if you are ordering other items with it) which might be slightly more, but that card is much faster. It's so good I went and ordered another one.

      • What speeds do you get?

These guys benchmarked the EVO Select 128GB at 80-88MB/s read, and about 22MB/s write.

The Sandisk Ultra 128GB was 90-99MB/s read, 50-78MB/s write.

        • +1

I used a Sandisk USB 3.0 card reader, and I was getting writes between 70 and 90MB/s. 80 was where it hovered the longest. If the people benchmarking the Evo Select was only getting 22MB/s writes, they are using a dodgy device for testing it. It's definitely fast. It's worth noting that the EVO select they tested is the older UHS-1 version. The one that is currently $44.99 is the newer UHS-3 speed, 100/90 which is the fastest current microSD card I know of.

EDIT: I see what's wrong now. The card they tested is rated at 80MB/s read and 20MB/s write. So 22MB/s is slightly above what is advertised. The current model of EVO Select is advertised as 100MB/s read and 90MB/s write, which is a huge boost in speed and is in line with what you'd expect from an upgrade in range (EVO -> PRO, or Ultra -> Extreme Pro). The older Evo Select was a rebadge of EVO+. The newer Evo Select is I think a rebadge of PRO+. Samsung's nomenclature is difficult to grasp, naturally.

I did not test read speeds in my card.

I was not using H3testw. I was simply transferring movie files onto it.

I had a 64GB Sandisk Extreme Plus in my phone which is already a very fast card, but decided to swap it out for this, which I was originally intending to save for my Galaxy Book when I get one. But I loved the card enough, that I swapped it even though I was only gaining 64GB. I bought another one to save for the Galaxy Book.

It's odd that they were getting 50-78MB/s write on a Sandisk Ultra. The card is not even rated for those speeds. It's about 15-20MB/s claimed by Sandisk. And my experience with them (I have a 200GB Ultra with 80MB/s read — Sandisk doesn't list write speeds if they aren't impressive) and 15-20 is in line with what I experience.

50-78MB/s write is Extreme or Extreme Plus speeds which are significantly more expensive.

        • Wrong card (for the Samsung). That is the old U1 model. The new U3 card is much faster.

I posted my speed tests in the comments of the deal for it…my write speeds for the 128gb card were in the 70s (and 60s for the 64gb version), but others on Amazon are getting 90+ write speeds for the 128gb card.

        • @lostn:

It's odd that they were getting 50-78MB/s write on a Sandisk Ultra

Is it ? these are my Crystal disk mark tests for my 128 GB Sandisk Ultra
          http://imgur.com/a/eTEpK

It's about 15-20MB/s claimed by Sandisk

My writes certainly seems a little better than that getting
          Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1): 39.63 MB/s
          Sequential Write (T= 1): 73.83 MB/s
Obviously not as good as the newer Samsung U3 card but certainly better than 15-20 MB/s you said you experience with the Ultra

        • hmm not even the extreme on sandisk own site is listed close to 50mb for write ……. I'd go with manufacturers claimed speed …. Ultra is listed a U1 on Sandisk site, if it was faster, they'd claim it, extreme is listed as U3.

        • @clint-008: Well, I'm not going to dispute your tests. Maybe some batches are just faster than others, like how some CPUs overclock more than others.

I've had a number of different Ultras as they got refreshed over the years, and none of them have written at those speeds.

Did you also try real world copying of files, and not just benchmarking tools?

        • @lostn:
Fair enough, the one I was using in the tests was purchased earlier this year so might be of a much newer batch then the ones you have used in the past.

In terms of real world, I just conducted a test writing about 6.18 GB to card in 194 seconds averaged around 32 MB/s so obviously not as high as the bench but still significantly higher than the rated U1 speeds listed on the card and the website most of time stayed in the range 25-32 MB/s with a short few peaks above 40 MB/s

        • @clint-008: FWIW, I just received my 128GB SanDisk Ultra today. On my SurfaceBook's internal SD reader, I get 92.66MB/s read and 42.99MB/s write. I'll try it on my desktop usb card reader tonight.

        • I get 95.2MB/s read and 47.39MB/s write on my desktop.

I have another 128GB SanDisk Ultra purchased some time last year. On the same card reader, I get 93Mb/s read and 26MB/s write. So I guess they either improved their cards since last year, or it's the luck of the draw!

          With a 64GB SanDisk Extreme, I get 84MB/s read, 70MB/s write.

    • That's the new Evo+ which seems to be the same as the new Evo Select, which is the same as Pro+ or thereabouts.

It's UHS-3 and says 100MB/s read and 90MB/s write, the same as Evo Select.

This would be better than the Sandisk Ultra, but it also costs a bit more, at $71.12.

EDIT: Picture shows 128GB card, but listing is for 64GB. Not so great a deal if it's a 64GB. I assumed it was 128GB.

I would recommend getting the Amazon Evo Select 128GB instead, which comes to around $60 AUD plus shipping.

      • do you have a link of the Amzaon Evo Select 128GB card?

        or is it this? https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Select-Memory-MB-ME128DA-AM/d…

There's a lot of SD card with similar name and brand.

and what's the different between these two: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM…

        Thanks a lot!!!!

        • +1

The second link is the one.

The difference is one is the older UHS-1 and the second is the newer UHS-3.

The older one is 80/20 r/w, and the newer is 100/90 r/w. I do not know of a faster microSD card than that.

If you already have an Amazon order with other items, the shipping cost to add this card is next to negligible.

        • @lostn: ordered 2 of them this morning…

It's a bit cheapper than the shopping square one…

          will see how it goes..

          THANKS!!
