      It will fast-charge (QuickCharge 1.0 - 5V 2A), but probably not the fast charge you're thinking of (QuickCharge 2.0 - usually 9V 1.67A for phones).

    Bargain. I bought the Tronsmart one a few days ago from Geekbuying for twice the price, but this is the one I really wanted (as I already have the Tronsmart with QC2 but don't use QC2). Now I have so many chargers!

    Solution: 1 for bedside. 1 for office. 1 for briefcase.

    I've got one of these. Works well except for a high pitched whine that is not overly loud but because I had it on the bedside next to me, it bugged the hell out of me so I swapped it out for the Tronsmart. It's a common problem with this unit as described in previous posts on OzB so I wouldn't recommend it for a bedside unless you're hard of hearing.

      The high pitch noise starts with 2 or more devices for me. Very noticeable if it's in the room you sleep in.

        Does the Tronsmart make a high pitched noise also? Or is that one quiet?
        I have the 2 port 2.4a and Qualcomm BlitzWolf charger and only recently has it started to make an audible whine after using for about 3 months.

        i have 3 around the house and use them all to charge our phones, ipads , portable gaming consoles and basically anything that uses usb. These are great to have a central spot to charge things.

        I have one on my pc desk but cant hear a noise because the fans of my pc is pretty loud, but putting my ears to it now there is no noise at all resonating from it.

          same as a 12w apple charger …… apple have 5w chargers and 12w chargers ….. 12w is typically for ipads and the 5w they used to bundle with phones….. not sure which they supply with phones now …….

      It will charge it faster than the included stock iPhone charger (5w 1amp), it will charge like the iPad charger (12w 2.4amp).

    I recently spoke with a Samsung rep who advised the S8 had much better battery life than the s7. I asked if the QC had been cranked back because the cables and batteries were stinking hot during charging. The rep advised this is exactly what Samsung had stopped doing.

    There's some good advice summarised here, although the author only briefly mentions heat. I've usually charged my batteries from 30% to 80% to prolong their life. Charging to 100% is not good for batteries.

      OK but phone batteries typically last 2000 cycles so if you charge your device once a day that is longer than many people keep their device for.

      what's new ….. i only qc in emergency ….. rest of the time it's normal 5v charge to keep temperatures down.

      i keep a qc in the car but car charges are emergency as i didn't charger overnight at home.

      although batteries can be charged often, eventually they don't hold their charge as long ….. so they charge to the required voltage but hold less current.
      not an issue if you get a new phone every 2 years but annoying if you keep phone for 3-4 years.

      if you want or know about battery care talk to Radio control model enthusiasts … they have lots of lithium batteries and charge them often and need to extend life if they want their models to run the longest time on one charge.
