Cheap Android Phone to Stream Google Play Music

As the total suggests, I am looking for a cheap android phone to pair with a dock/speaker to replace a broken cd player in my daughter's room. It will mainly be used to play music at sleep time and as CD's always seem to get scratched I thought this would be a better option. I have found this one for $39 which I think fits the bill and looks like it's in stock, are there any better/cheaper options I should be considering?

Maybe think about getting a Chromecast Audio? Although wait until it is on sale first! A bit pricey at 58 dollars.

Would be what the OP wants but I think it has been discontinued so you might not be able to find it anymore.

HN actually selling the normal CC quite cheap… $38, just set it up on a monitor before hand or something and then plug it into your speakers

      • The issue would be the HDMI out I think otherwise this would be a winner.

        • What inputs do you have on your speakers? I'd assume AUX is one, anything else?

        • @ProjectZero: I haven't actually got the speakers yet, none of the ones I have looked at has HDMI though

        • @tryagain: Actually, going to suggest getting the CC and one of those adapters from ebay. Saw a few HDMI adapters that give our RCA, you might be able to find one that has AUX.

        • @ProjectZero: There are adapters available, from what I have seen though they seem to be hdmi out not in.

        • @tryagain: This should be what you're looking for.

      • Wow didn't know the Cc Audio has been discontinued. I'm actually looking out for one when it comes down to a reasonable price, missed the last 38 dollar deal.

        • I heard it was discontinued, not too sure though, I could be wrong.

I like the chromecast audio idea, hadn't thought of that.

  • I'd be mindful that the really cheap Android phones may have issues streaming music - especially if they have a minuscule amount of RAM.

  • I'd also like options - including 2nd hand up to 3 yrs old - as a car MP3 player.

My car audio system is incompatible with apple devices on shuffle mode (shuffle cannot be activated - known bug), and sh!ts itself with more than 4gb of files when an apple device or USB is plugged in (it indexes all files on the device first!), so I want a phone to stream via BT. I'll need 32GB of storage (happy with an SD card). That's all it'll be used for.
