Cheapest Place to Buy Mont Blanc Pens

I'm looking for a lower end Mont Blanc fountain pen. My newly wedded wife wants to get something nice for my dad- very considerate of her. But as an OzB member, I can't just ask her to go buy one off David Jones website/store. Anyone know if the pens will be reduced around EOFY sale time? Ideas of where to look?

Overseas would be your best bet, especially Europe (i.e. the Netherlands) once you remove VAT.

appelboom pennen is a Montblanc retailer online for example and I have had great experiences with the owner.

Does Mont Blanc provide worldwide warranty with fountain pens? I'd assume they would, considering how Mont Blanc positions itself as a premium brand…

Anyways, buying overseas usually is the best way to go with fountain pens if you know how to mess with fountain pens (or if they provide decent warranty). Anything from Australia is usually bloody expensive. I've seen double pricing or worse from Australian vendors for most of fountain pen stuff and shipping usually makes things worse.

would he use a fountain pen, or would a normal ball point be better?

    • well, my Dad's a writer and enjoys using Fountain pens. My wife has a Mont Blanc ball point pen and to be honest I really don't see the difference between a normal $5 ballpoint and this $600 MB ball point (but I don't usually write anymore)… So was thinking Fountain pens. I realise that they're almost double the price compared to Fountains but it's a one off present. She wanted it to be nice.

Does your dad like Mont Blanc brand? Just asking since from what I've been reading on forums, Mont Blanc brand is reputable but some people seem to dislike them.

If your dad is a fountain pen user, I do recommend getting a lovely ink to go along with the pen as well. Something in the colour he likes might be good. If you get a MB pen, inks from MB might go along well with it.

Be careful not to grab a model that's cartridge only, usually they are cheaper.
