  I was about to pull the trigger on E570p as I've been looking for a quad core laptop with a decent graphics card at a doable price for ages.
  Then I saw that it had no optical drive. To me, that's a deal-breaker. Half the time I spend in front of a computer is using DVDs.
  Oh well. The hunt/wait continues.

    Have you considered an external optical drive? You can pick these up starting for around $30-$40.

      Yep, I just can't bring myself to be stuck with a drive sticking out of the laptop when it's being used on my bed or at various office meetings for most of its life.

        What about making ISO images out of your discs?

        If you must have a DVD drive try a Metabox Alpha from Metabox. Be prepared to pay quite the small fortune though.

  I paid for a x1 carbon few days ago. I thought it'll take 10-11 days, but it seems might take twice more! I can not understand why they need more than three weeks… (I didn't do any customizations).

  My pick of the batch is actually T470S from $1399. Yes crap base specification:

  • Core i5-7200U
  • 14" FHD
  • 4GB RAM / 128GB SSD

  However Lenovo T-series are quite upgradable, and that price makes a good entrant point for Lenovo's high end business laptop.
