I managed to get portal 1 and 2 for $2.95 AUD by buying the bundle. Much better value

      Thanks updated title!

    • Thanks. DONE! I've played portal 2 before, but for some reason never the original. Felt like something I should just keep on my work laptop for when I travel.

    • +4

Tagging on: If you already own portal 1, you can get portal 2 via the bundle for $1.50.

Fantastic game whether you're young or old. I've had this game for years, the jokes that come out of GLadDOS is top quality

  • Thanks. Been waiting for it to go on sale for awhile!

    What a deal!

Love this game! I got the bundle on spesh a while back for $4.48USD so this is way better than that! :)

  • great find, cheapest ever http://www.comparegames.com.au/PC/Portal-2/prices/4686

i was going to play this with a friend but couldn't be bothered figuring out hamachi etc

  • +1

Sweet. I can finally add these to the list of games I'll never get around to playing.

    • +5

I'd never be so hypocritical as to condemn a backlog of shame - but at least play Portal 1. It's only a few hours, you can probably knock it over in one session. After that, you'll probably wanna play Portal 2 anyway.

      • over in half an hour if you get the fake ending

  • +1

I love this game to bits but it's one of the games that give me motion sickness. I don't usually get motion sickness, including other games and vehicles.

    Still… A must play!

    • With you there. I think Portal is the only thing in the universe, apart from spinning on a desk chair, to actually give me motion sickness.

That said I bought it. It's a good deal!

  • +1

yup great game, loved it so much i bought all the figurines - chell, atlas and p-body…like a kid.

    • I bought the first issue Portal Gun. Still in the box. I doubt I'd be able to even sell it now.

      • +1

because you would not want to or because it has no value…. guessing the former?

        • Latter, actually. There could be a brick in the box, and I wouldn't even know. I bought it on a whim, thinking I'd display it on a shelf. Never happened. I remember seeing someone try to sell their gun online for $200 (that was how much it cost to buy), and there were no takers.

I don't know. Maybe I'll eventually take it out of the box.

        • @flaminglemon: Do an advanced search on Ebay for sold listings, quite a few have sold for various prices, some above $200 especially the first editions.

        • @Gravy: Ah. I'll do that. Never really done an advanced search on eBay. Worst Ozbargainer ever.

  • Best co-op game I have ever played! Recommend!

  • no brainer. one of my favourite games in the last 5 or so years. the atmosphere in the latter half of the game is fantastic. I want a spin off game/show/movie of the rise and fall of Cave Johnson and Aperture

  • If you own Portal 2, see if anyone can help you get…

    Professor Portal
After completing co-op, complete Calibration Course online with a friend who hasn’t played before

    • I need this achievement (although I havent played coop yet!)

      • I've already got it…

Don't think i'll be able to help you there… :S

        • Thats all right. Ive got a mate who is going to get the game soon. Ill need to finish coop before that though

        • @Piranha2004: I'll do co-op with you if noone else here needs it?

One of the best games ever made.

Can't wait for Half Life 3.

    • +3

By mentioning Half Life 3 you have delayed it by 1 Month. Half Life 3 is now estimated for release in July 2231.

        • Seems legit.

    • I agree, that cliffhanger from episode 2……………why??!?!?!?!

  • Awesome games. Great puzzles and funny jokes.

  • Absolute steal for this price!

  • I know it says PC in the title, but one of my computers is Mac and I was wondering if anyone knows whether this can be played on a Mac as well?

  • Hey guys never bought from this store. Do they charge extra(like international transaction fee) with australian card, as this is an american store?

    • +1

i got the portal bundle for $3.08 using paypal

      • $2.95 on my Macquarie platinum transaction account. I'm really liking this account for purchases.

        • My comm-bank platinum debit card charged the same amount(2.95) as well.

        • @potatoislife: I thought CBA had conversion fees? Is this a new account?

        • @Munki: Not a new account but recently upgraded to platinum card. I was charged some extra fees (may be it was conversion fees)a while ago for another international purchase, but not on this one.

        • @potatoislife: Had to Google the platinum debit card thing! Didn't know it even existed and I've been a CBA customer since dollarmite in 1990! Did you ask for it or just got randomly selected? Whirlpool is suggesting it's targeted, but that was a few years ago…

        • @Munki: They just sent me the offer. I guess i was randomly selected.

        • @potatoislife: Cheers mate! Mine's not due for a new card until 2019 unfortunately! Bugger!

    • Yes its american so if your provider charges a fee, you'll get it.

  • Bah, can't buy the bundle as a gift?!!? Valve wat.

  • Does GST for Steam purchases start next week or has that been delayed?

    • Starts 2018 I think

      • +1

I could not find info about that delay. All google search results bring up articles from Feb 2017 mentioning that in July Steam will start charging GST.

To be safe, you best buy them in the next few days.

The tax on digital goods, like steam purchases starts next week a.k.a. "Netfix tax"

Meanwhile the elimination of the tax free thresholds which affects physical goods that people self import e.g. Amazon and e-bay purchases has been delayed for a year.

Source: The 'Online Goods' Tax Has Been Postponed Until 2018

        • +1

@trongy: Why does the government think they're entitled to tax on goods purchased in another country?

Do people visiting from other countries have to pay tax on purchases in AU to their home country?

        • @lostn:

I'm not a spokesperson for the government, but I'll give you my opinion :).

Most countries have some sort taxation of at least certain categories of goods that are imported within their borders. The taxation might be called customs, tariff or duty. This is a tradition that goes back centuries (at least).

What has changed in recent years is that individual consumers have started doing their own importation on a significant scale for the first time. When businesses pay taxes on imported goods these costs are largely invisible the the consumer.

The other change from historical norms is the trade in digital/virtual goods that cannot be stopped and taxed at our shipping ports or airports.

It's either impossible or impractical to collect small amounts of importation tax directly from millions of consumers. Instead, governments are asking the sellers, which are usually big businesses to do the tax collection instead. This is not unique to Australia. If you search on google you will find that Valve already collects VAT for Steam sales into the EU and some other countries. In the US, most states have state sales tax, but the tax rate varies between state. Internet companies like Amazon now collect state sales taxes when they ship between states in the US. On the other hand I believe that EU rules forbid taxing imports from another EU member country.

Is this new tax fair? Is any tax fair? Opinions vary. However, I think that being taxed 10% on a game bought from Steam is no more fair or unfair than the the 10% tax on a game bought in JB Hi-Fi

        • @trongy:

That's not the comparison I'm making. If an American for some reason decides to buy some digital software from Aust, do they have to pay the US government a share of the tax? Are we collecting tax for the American government?

        • @lostn:

Are we collecting tax for the American government?

By "we", I assume that you are referring to Australian software sellers.

The only Australian software company of any size in the US market, that I'm aware of, is Atlassian. They sell to the US market through their US office which I presume would collect the applicable US taxes.

As for software sales from Australian businesses to US consumers - is anyone actually doing this? US consumers rarely look outside their domestic market because they have so many options such good pricing. If US consumers are buying Australian made software it will be through US companies like Steam, Humble Bundle, Amazon and Ebay.

The US has tariffs on Australian steel and California bans the importation of Kangaroo products. The direct software trade from Australian companies to US consumers would be so minuscule that they would not contemplate the effort of taxing it.

Nevertheless, if the US ever asked Australian companies to tax software export to US customers, I expect that they would comply - the same way that Steam does for the governments of the EU, Iceland, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland and soon Australia.

Amazing games, a must buy if you don't already have them. I'd also recommend Portal Stories Mel, a free single-player mod for Portal 2.

  • +1

I have both portal bundles but want to gift a bundle to a friend, any way to do that? It seems like steam got rid of storing gifts in inventories which is a massive shame.

  • What a great deal! I wanted portal2 before but being…how to say…quite cheap myself, I didn't buy it. $2 is my kinda price though :D
