Hey guys, Civilization V comes out on the 24th September and you can pre-order it for only $38 AUD!

365games.co.uk has it for 22.98 GBP and free postage to Australia, so that equates to roughly $38AUD as of this morning.

I thought I got it cheap when I had a friend gift it from the UK on Steam for $50. Note, the game uses Steamworks and thus must be played through Steam.

This is cheaper than thehut, shopto, Steam and sendit. I put an expiry of launch day because I'm not 100% sure if the price will rise once the game comes out.

Edit: Alternatively you can get it from Ozgameshop (http://www.ozgameshop.com/pc-games/sid-meiers-civilization-v…) for $39.95 AUD and free postage. The game is still shipped from the UK. If you order now with the current exchange rate, it costs $1.75 more from ozgameshop :p

    Prob better to get it from www.ozgameshop.com where it is AUD $39.95. Ozgameshop is the Australian priced site of 365games, where everything is priced in AUD and there's still free shipping. Why is it then better? No FX fluctuations, and no FX conversion charge.

      I looked at it on ozgameshop last night, but their FAQ doesn't seem to indicate there's free postage to AUS (even though their parent site does it). Either way, I didn't list it because its 1.75 cheaper from 365games =P.

      Also, those that don't want to wait for the game to be shipped, check out www.g2play.net who will email you the Steam key when it's released for ~AUD$49. More expensive, but you'll get it on the day rather than wait 10 days.

      1) 365games offers free shipping to Australia as well since it's run by the same guys.
      2) It's cheaper at 365games due to the strong aussie dollar.

    is it more than just an update in graphics as the last few where (well update in units and graphics)
    love the game, but hasn't really changed much in principal to the first civ….

      Having not played it yet, can't say with all certainty how different it is. However, the hex based tiling will in itself make for some big differences. The other big changes have been made to the government/religion/cultural progress, only one unit can occupy a tile (no stacks of doom anymore), cities only expand by one tile a turn and the new city states (which sound awesome).

      I think it will be significantly different from the new warfare alone (only 1 unit per tile, different tile ranges for units etc)

    The predecessor Civilization IV is a great game, I have no doubt that this will also be a great game. It's the thinking person's game, if you like chess and board games, you will love it. However, I'm cautious about pre-ordering games because there might be delays in the shipping due to stock problems.

      yeah good point though its still 80USD on steam… man they are a rip off when i asked them why fallout was 10USD over there and 20USD over here all i got was that they were working with local retailers to ensure a fair price…

      or to ensure that we are suitably ripped off, how is charging a premium to other countries fair?

      man i should boycott buying from steam alone on that fact… but its just sooo easy to have my games stored on it!
