Buying GTX 1080 Ti from Amazon

i'm looking at getting an evga 1080ti sc2 from amazon. the price in usd is 744.25 including shipping. google conversion come out to 983.48aud.

but if i choose to pay in aud on amazon its over $1,000aud

so my question is if i pay it in usd will i still get slugged an import fee when it comes through customs? what conversion rate do australian customs use?

Pay in US dollars on Amazon, but use a credit card like 28 degrees or Citibank Plus Visa Debit for conversion. Should be under 1K still.

You shouldn't get slugged with customs but that's my guess.

Also the 1K threshold is on the total amount on goods, not including shipping from my understanding

***Forgot to add, you can check the customs rate's here

I suppose you are aware that GTX 1080 Ti's have been down to $891 - $898 from AU sellers recently yeah (from memory)?

it says the import fee on Amazon under the prices before you confirm payment.

Import duties and GST are assessed on a C.I.F. value basis of the goods. That is Cost, Insurance and Freight.

  • It's a really bad time to be buying GPU's at the moment. Inflated prices all round due to the surge in ethereum mining. I'm putting off buying one in the hopes that it'll die down soon.

Also keep an eye out on Massdrop. This Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Ti just dropped for about $910aud delivered.
