Started a Website That Can Help People Compare Different Blocks of Land in Perth

Hello,
Looking for feedback on a website I have been working on - after getting ripped off by a REA saying "there is not much land Baldivis (Perth)" I realised there was no one place to check this easily. Even things like price per square meter etc didn't exist. All comments or feedback is welcome :). This is 100% free for landbuyers and hopefully saves people time and money.

And for anyone wondering - yes its scary spending money on something that might fail but I wouldn't rather give it a shot than not try at all. If anyone is thinking about trying a start-up/their own business, I highly recommend it !! Whether you make money or not you will always get something out of it

    Very pretty, responsive website.

So are you effectively acting as a buyer's agent? Once the buyer gets in touch with the REA, will you reap a referral fee?

    • thanks @qe3rty , pretty much a way for land buyers to get some independent information rather than just rely on the agents. We don't charge any referral fees or success fees - we charge a flat subscription fee to the seller

im wondering if we should switch to referral though

    Lovely site, OP!

Question - where do you get your data from? how often is it updated?
    Please do Melbourne next!

thanks heap @hastagbargain ! Its quite stressful putting something out there for public comment so thanks for the kind words!

We update live as we sync directly with the sellers - rather than just scraping the data

The website is for WA at the moment - people aren't that interested in new technology if everything is selling well (unlike Melbourne , WA is not selling very well at all!)

Would love to get to VIC though , ill keep that in mind :)

Nice website - clean interface and very quick! Best of all, no ads!

However, A quick search under "Landsdale" shows no listings in your site where as a Realestate.com.au search on "Landsdale" lands shows about 104 results. Of course this will improve as you have more listings, but at this point your site does not seem to be hitting it's core goal.

I've made website before for aggregating house builder performance to also help consumer judge which one is the right one for them. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience but eventually had to shut it down after several 'cease and decist' letters from builders lolz.

I wish you all the the best on your endeavour!

    • Thanks @thirdwill - at the moment have only done the fringe listings (these are harder as you said you cant just scrape the data, we actually had to meet with all these developers and get permission). Infill (like Landsdale) is quite easier by contrast so we will be working hard to get the infill listings quickly

It should like I could learn from your experience would you be happy for me to ask you a few questions via a DM?

OP very nice site with a nice layout.

I hope your site gets more listings because the search facility for land is very detailed and effective.

The only issue now is, I still have to rely on REIWA or Property etc as the source of 'best' truth for available stock on the market.

Also I could not search on Churchlands, as in Woodlands comes up when you partially type 'Woodl' but Churchlands does not come up whether I spell it in full or not.

  • thanks for that @tsunamisurfer - ill be sure to check those . We stream all our suburbs , points of interest etc from Landgate so they should be correct!

Your right we need to increase our infill listings. That will be our focus going forward

    Great feedback , thanks !

  • Really nice website and a great idea. I have no interest in land in Perth, but if I did (and I might in a few years), I would definitely use this. I would suggest a how it works page - that is what I wanted to know. For instance, it would answer these sorts of questions: What is your commission/business model, what do I gain (in detailed terms) from buying via this website?
