I contacted Addicted to audio, and customer service replied.

Hello,
We have forwarded this to Sony but the break looks like user error to us. We'll report back when they respond.

(No offense to Addicted to audio :) they don't know what happened). I'm waiting feedback from Sony.

That post mentioned

A group of Chinese customers including more than 70 people whose headphone cracked and could not use anymore write a letter to Sony and at the meantime report to Customer Protection Organization in China.
Now Sony has given its response. A internal email is sent to the group of customers by an authorized reseller of Sony. And the email is from Sony.

I joined China Customer Protection organization ,they are replaced successful.Still waiting Sony Australia reaply.

I also worry about even headphone replaced,It will be crack again? people who replaced successful said seems Sony doesn't change materiel.

When I saw YouTube about "sony cracking" video, I saw one of comment said,

wow i thought its me pulling too hard, this is my 2nd MDR 1000x after i got it replaced, the 2nd still break in less than 2_months

Yep, a widely known problem+main reason why I didn't buy a pair. Shame an expensive product had such a fatal design flaw.

Don't let them them blame Sony. Under ACL it is the retailers problem to deal with it within a reasonable time frame. If Sony aren't helping then its entirely Addicted To Audios problem. Given both the price of these and the global problems I can't see how they couldn't refund you.

I've read this issue in multiple places, however I've had mine for 9 months now, I use them often as i take the train to work every day.
I use them normally, always take them in their case. So far nothing wrong with them, so lets hope it stays that way.
