Best Way to Get around Europe & UK?

Attention seasoned travelers!

Attending a expo in Germany/UK in October & moving between several locations all approx 2-3 hrs apart in Europe & UK .

Whats the best way to get around? Train , hire a car , fly? Can anyway provide any info on the rail system or other suggestions?

Thanks.

all the options you mentioned are good. it just depends on where you're going really. the cheapest way is the bus and and for longer journeys it's probably worth flying.

I did the train through Europe (I also did a bus via Contiki and quite a few flights).

I did a mix of just general seating and sleeper trains (doubles as accommodation, so factored that in with my budget).

I friggen loved the train. No need to get there 1+ hour early to clear security, and no travelling to the airport in the middle of nowhere. Hop off the train and you're in the centre of town.

Go the car for the added flexibility, if they're all relatively close by then I reckon it would be worth the extra expense - provided that each accommodation spot has free parking then I say go for it. Public transport is good, but would take you longer at either end to then reach your destination. Get a car and enjoy the autobahns!

    • Definitely worth renting a car for at least one sector to make use of the autobahn.

  • Train.

  • Fly.

  • Thank frondono , that site is very helpful.

  • Train in Germany, DB trains are great
Fly to England then train or car/train depending where you need to go.
    As said above seat61
