JB Hi Fi Charged Me Twice?

Hey Ozbargainers!

So, I pre-ordered the new Crash Bandicoot game and the day it was supposed to be released for shipment, I didn't have enough funds in my account to pay for it, so I paid for the product manually.

I then received an email saying they had an internal crash in their system, thus my pre-order being canceled but my payment still went through. My bank account statements also show $52.50 pending twice.

I've contacted JB Hi Fi, and they claim this is a "pre authorization payment" and it should be back in my account straight away.

I have no experience in this field, but did anyone experience this as well?

Should I wait it out or file a complaint?

Thanks again.

  • Why not wait a few days to see what happens? It's only $52.50. You aren't not going to get it back. A complaint a bit drastic?

If you read the OP, that's why I asked for advice. "Its only 52.50" it's the matter of money being taken from my account twice.

        Reversals take a few days.

If it shows as pending then one of them will vanish.

Agreed with mungas, I'd wait. You know there was an issue with the system, they told you that you will receive your money back soon. Everything sounds fine unless you need the money at this very moment?

If you get nothing back in a few days, then you can start jumping into a complaint.

  • Im sure I have had this happen to me as well years ago with JB and it did clear itself after a couple days.

Don't stress, pre-authorisation only, so you haven't been 'charged' yet. Only thing affected is your authorisation limit until the pre-auth expires. Only complain on an actual charge.

  • Call them Wednesday if it hasn't been reversed. Reversals usually take 3-5 business days.

  • RELAX, it will go back in 3-7 days, if not then start the process.
