Great headphones at a great price from a great bunch of people (Addicted to Audio). It may be a little cheaper overseas, but for local stock from a local store, I think this is a bargain.

The ATH-M50x features the same coveted sonic signature as its predecessor, the ATH-M50, with the addition of three interchangable cables. Proprietary 45 mm large-aperture drivers with rare earth magnets and copper-clad aluminum wire voice coils ensure a pure listening experience. Isolating earcups swivel 90°. Collapsible design and included carrying pouch make for easy storage.

          m50x are a fantastic set of cans, for what it's worth. You can also get their "special edition" annual release colour for more of a fashion statement.

      If that girl is into fashion and stuff like that. Beats will do. Some people just like brand named stuff. If shes into music and likes to fiddle with all that audio thing with highs and lows and whatever Audio Technica is pretty fantastic.

      A lot of people hate Beats because it's an "overpriced rip off for idiots." but people buy Apples iPhones all the time for 1K+ and it's just a phone. Some people are just looks over functionality. Whos to say that's wrong?

        Thanks, the fashion is strong in this one, but so is frugality.

        She plays musical instruments in orchestras and etc, into sports and pop music too…
        Will probably end up with Beats against my better judgment.

        I agree with the sentiment completely, but at the same time, an iPhone is a reasonable device for a ridiculous cost. Older Beats, on the other hand, scored worse in a series of frequency response tests than AliExpress replicas of the same headphone. It's the "Beats signature sound" but really miserable if you care about quality audio at all.

          The m50x if noise cancellation is not needed.

          I have the QC25 (which I think are similar to the QC35) and the m50x, and I prefer these when I'm not needing noise cancellation for travel etc.

          It is not an upgrading from M50x to QC35 if ANC is not mandatory, its downgrading.
          If you must have a closed phone, there are a few more expensive phones, but only marginally better than m50x.
          If you can use open phones, there are plenty better phones. E.g. HD 600 is a small step up.
          Be aware most better phones require an amplifier for a reasonable better sound quality.

    Wearing some right now, they're not the greatest but they're a good all round set of headphones (good bass, good portability/foldability, reasonable isolation, decent sound, easy to drive).
