After a New PC 32" Monitor - 60hz or 144hz

Hi Guys,
After building a new Ryzen PC with an old 22" FHD monitor I've decided it's time to upgrade my monitor.

I sit quite far away (approx 1meter) from the screen so I want at least 32" size.

I'm debating getting a 144Hz monitor or sticking to 60Hz which to me looks perfectly fine.

I would like at least 2560x1440p resolution as im only running a GTX 960 4GB (No where near enough power for 4k gaming!)

I've come by a couple monitors here and here but not sure what would be best.

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks

  • probably not the viewsonic. While it is IPS (which is great), what is not so great is the 8ms response time, which is beaten by the AOC with a 5ms GTG pixel response rate.

There's also Freesync, but you won't be able to use Freesync features until either Nvidia caves in and lets their customers activate Freesync or, you buy a Radeon GPU.

Your GPU is probably on the very edge of being able to do incapable of 1440p at 144 frames a second. It's a good time to upgrade once Vega comes. I can barely hit 144 fps on my GTX 1060, and this is at 1080p.

  • Both of those monitors are alright options, and you won't find much else in that price range @ 32". The AOC one seems to have an MVA/VA panel, and the Viewsonic has an IPS panel (better viewing angles but much lower contrast than MVA/VA unless viewing off-centre).

Not many reviews on the Viewsonic, but this member seems to find it alright.

Can get either the AOC or Viewsonic monitors for ~$354 using the eBay 15% off. AOC. Viewsonic.

If gaming, the AOC would probably be a better option due to the slightly lower response time.

    • +1

FYI Crazy coupon is finished, only TREAT remains.

  • 144hz/1080p >>>>>>> 60hz/1440p. A GTX960 is not going to be running anything other than indie games at 144hz/1440p btw.
