  Great prices for direct flights from east coast, and approx. $1000 return on a decent airline for Perth is amazing

    I just paid $1000 return LA on Air New Zealand for the same travel period - a better routing IMO as the final leg is shorter (via Auckland) and slightly shorter transit times.

      Air New Zealand are pretty good. I fly between Australia and the USA once or twice a year and usually fly with AirNZ.

        @Wampus: I'm flying from San Francisco to Melbourne and there's no airlines that do that route directly :( I'd rather fly via Auckland as opposed to flying via LAX or BNE.

        @Wampus: For those who've been given Velocity Gold - and managed to earn the 80 points to retain - AirNz is a better bet IMO. Lounge access at every stop, including the top shelf Star Alliance lounge at LAX.

  Hi All,

  What would be the best way say If you wanted to do LA & new york wit this deal ?

  Would it be be best to book sydney - LA return, and then book a seperate ticket for new york ?

  the special is also for new york but you cannot break up that flight with the deal ? ie sydney to LA for say a week, then LA - New york, then fly home to sydney from NY ?

    Pretty sure that you can book a stop over at either no fee or a nominal fee ($99 or so) with Qantas - at least you used to be able to.

    Edit: Just tried Syd - LA - NY - Syd with some dates in Oct and you can get the flight for $1280…

    You can book a multi-city itinerary - for example you could do Sydney to LA to New York to Sydney. A few flight booking sites let you search for these. I normally use Google Flights. Some airlines also let you add one extra stopover for a small fee (eg. you book Sydney to New York round-trip, and then you add a stopover in LA along the way while booking).

    However, note that sometimes it's cheaper to book a round-trip ticket from Sydney to LAX, and then a separate round-trip ticket for LAX to New York.

    Play around with Google Flights and see what you find :)
