ING Direct Referral Problems - Anyone else have problems?

A friend signed up with ING. She was here, and got me involved in the sign up. We put in the code and made sure everything was fine. She made the monthly deposit, has both the accounts etc.

Months later, no referral bonuses for either of us.

I ring up and they tell me, can't tell me anything, they have to talk to my friend.
I ring up weeks later with my friend and they tell her … oh sorry, computer system just went down … please try again.
I ring up again, tell them about both times I tried before, finally she tells my friend, according to her records, my code wasn't put in.

Now, we were both there and made sure it was in. But I don't think we can do anything since it's just a computer field.

I see Jatacid had other problems with a referral.
Also, Wystri Warrick reported problems
I see nubzy had the same problem, 4 times

Anyone else have problems with the ING Direct referral "bonus" program?

  • If anyone else is going to try again, if possible get your friend to film in high definition the form and then the pressing of the submit (basically the whole submissions process) as it's probably the only evidence you can get.

I've had exactly the same problem, shame to hear it wasn't just me. My friend put my code in right in front of me and did all the necessary steps, that was months ago and no bonus for either of us.

    same thing happened with me…

  • My $100 refs have been fine. One of them was actually paid out within a couple weeks and it wasn't even the new month yet.

  • Okay so it does happen, much more frequently than you'd think; other people confirming the code got typed in, in front of them too.

Thanks to everyone who replied for confirming to me, that it wasn't just us. :)

  • Merged from ING Referrals Bonus Experiences - How Many of You Actually Got Paid The Referral Bonus?

    Hi everyone!

    • I signed up to an ING account from a friends referral and didn't get the bonus
    • 2 of my friends signed up using my referral code and still no bonus after meeting all the criteria

Just wondering how many of you were successful in getting the bonus they promise to pay at the end of the month.

    Cheers :)

    • got my bonus $75 on 16/10/2017 - Miscellaneous Credit

did my 4 taps 04/10/2017 and final 5th tap on 06/10/2017 (opened account 12/09/2017)

email for $100 referral code came in today too

  • This sounds like something that needs to be reported to the ACCC. It seems that they are engaging in misleading advertising with a bait and switch.

    • It needs people to film it when they enter the information.
If they don't get the bonus, they can let the ACCC know.

If enough reports accrue, hopefully the ACCC can investigate.

  • It took a lot of pushing for me to get mine.. But apparently it just takes a while..

  • I honestly don't think they are bothering to pay until you take it up with them. Never received my referral.

    • Thing is, some of us did take it up with them and we were then told, they think the referral wasn't noted down, at the time of application. This is despite us referrers being there, when friends and family filled out the applications and made sure the application form was filled out correctly (including the referral notification).

  • Merged from ING Direct Refer A Friend

So I just read the email I got from ING with the refer a friend offer (mine is $100 each, crazy!), but I have already referred most of my friends from previous campaigns :(

Anyhoo, I thought it was pretty funny this is in the fine print:

If you use this offer in a manner that is not satisfactory to us or in line with the intent of the offer (such as sharing your referral code on the 'OzBargain' website or other similar websites, or advertising or marketing your referral code), we may refuse to pay the cash bonus (including in respect of any or all referrals made in relation to the offer). This includes conduct on your part which is designed to undermine the fair and intended operation of the offer.

They also define a calendar month haha:

A calendar month is one of the 12 named months that a year is commonly divided into (eg. November, December). Each calendar month would commence at the start of the first day of that month and would finish at the end of the last day of that same month (eg. 12.01am on 1 December 2017 to 11.59pm on 31 December 2017).

Lastly, I have a toddler aged daughter…has anyone successfully "referred" their own kids???

    • +1

It doesn't mention anything about needing to be aged 18+.

      • Yeah, nothing about underage or family in the T+Cs… But the promotion/email subject is called "refer a friend", so they might try to decline on that technicality???

Was hoping someone here has already tried and knows from experience before I bother.

    • +2

Don't think it is possible (referring your toddler-aged daughter), because whoever you refer must meet the criteria to open the account. But there is minimum age for opening accounts (just from the top of my head, ING Everyday is 18).

      • +1

Oh, didn't think of that. Yes, I just read the T+Cs for the Orange Everyday account (thanks to your advice) and it does say you have to be over 18. Oh well.
