GME TX675 Handheld Radios TWIN PACK (2 Watt) + 10 DVD's + 10 Magazines + Delivery - $99

60

Really good deal on UHF/CB handhelds - would otherwise set you back about $180 for the same twin pack elsewhere. Whilst 5 watt is the best way to go, a 2 watt system is still quite decent and GME as a brand has a great reputation (equivalent 5 watt GME would be very expensive). See you tube review of the older model (not my review) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Of_OI7q6n8

Why not just buy a $60 Xiaomi or Baofeng?

    • Because they're Xiaomi, lol they look like their portable batteries with a screen and antenna. GME are great handhelds, rugged and have great battery life.

    • without international version. i would say NO

Because Xiaomi doesn't cover AU civil bands.
You got to have a full call sign to operate it in Australia.

GME is actually a very good quality Australian Brand with a proven history and these UHF's are not like a child's walkie talkie set like the Xiaomi you linked. These would be used in remote environments with confidence and have proven quality and range, and would actually be used by professionals like rangers/tour operators recreationally by 4wders/campers/hikers etc. Also it might not be the same price as Xiaomi, but if you actually compare the $99 to well known good quality brands as opposed to cheap Chinese goods, this is a real bargain (hell just compare the $99 price to eBay twin packs of the same radio) and you'll see how good it is.

Your statement is like saying, why not just buy a Great Wall instead of a Toyota Hilux? It's actually quite ignorant.

        Rodger that! Over and out!

    • Because the Baofeng is illegal to operate on the UHF CB bands as its not type approved. Sure lots of people do, but if you get found out, you're in for one hell of a fine. Baofengs are only legal to operate on the amateur bands if you are a licenced amateur.

FYI, Puxing 777 can be customised to operate on 477mhz. I have a pair which are better than GME in coverage (4w vs. 2w).

It's amazing the comments here. It's a shame that you can only transmit F3E or G3E on the CB bands.

It's about time something like FreeDV / Codec2 or some other digital mode was allowed.

    • too true

  • Deal is SOLD OUT

  • Only 5 upvotes and sold out.. Wonder how many were in stock anyways..

    • I purchased my set 2 days ago and I got the email on the 4th of July. Only had the sense to post it here today because I've been busy with work. Plus I think because it is more of a magazine promotion than a retailers sale they must of had limited stock to begin with maybe 50 or a 100.

  • Damn it! Was in need of these. Wonder if they will restock?

    • Sign up to their website they will restock at some point, because apparently this deal has happened before as well. I've ordered mine, now to just wait and see if it arrives loll … but I highly doubt 4wd action/4wd supercentre would run a scam !

  • How do these compare to the oricom 2190 or 2185

    • +1

It's a tough one, because spec wise they are very similar. You have some brands that are just certified premium (GME, ICOM, YAESU). Then you have brands that are good but trying to tap into the certified premium range (UNIDEN). Then you have the rest (ORICOM). It just comes down to what your comfortable with. My use will mainly involve outback use in remote areas, so if you go and speak to anyone, or go on 4wd/camping/hunting forums everyone swears by GME. That's why when the deal came up, I almost blew a load. Because to purchase these for almost 50% of market price was great. But I'm not a radio expert, there are better opinions out there - and for all I know Oricom may be just as good as the spec match.

I bought a deal from them (2 stretchers and magazine bundle). After 5 weeks of waiting I gave them a call.
They told me it's on it way.
    2 weeks later call again.
Lady tells me it's lying right next to her.
3 weeks later I call again.
This time i'm told it's in the Brisbane warehouse.
2 weeks later i'm told it's been sold out for over 5 weeks.
They gave me a refund and no apology.

I really hope you will get your stuff you bought from them.

    • I hope so too - I have purchased from them before and received my items in a week, however you can never know as I have heard other people have had many issues.

So apparently received an email today stating that my radios have been dispatched - I guess they pulled through. Here's hoping they are in 1 piece lol
