The EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti uses NVIDIA's new flagship gaming GPU, based on the NVIDIA Pascal architecture. The latest addition to the ultimate gaming platform, this card is packed with extreme gaming horsepower, next-gen 11 Gbps GDDR5X memory, and a massive 11 GB frame buffer.

Currently being sold by Amazon UK at a heavily discounted price (compared to the usual price found on the UK site)

Also available is the EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 at a massively discounted price, getting it under the import tax threshold for the first time for this card that I can recall.

CamelCamelCamel on the FTW3: https://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/EVGA-GeForce-GAMING-GDDR5X-Te…

Personally the SC2 is more than enough however the FTW3 is one of the better 1080Ti cards on the market and offers excellent cooling and with only an extra $36 it's worth the extra spend if you are worried about cooling and want the best of the EVGA cards.

Both come with a 3 year international warranty for piece of mind.

EDIT: Live currency conversion link for those who have bought and want to keep track of the price…

  • I really want to pull the trigger on this and a ROG Swift ASUS PG279Q. However with the VEGA announcement at the end of the month, I feel I must resist

    • vega benchmarks arent that great - expect 1080 performance for higher tdp

might be good for mining though

      • +2

rx vega benchmark isnt out yet. i thought only vega fe (dev).

Over on the 3DMark database, a new benchmark entry was discovered under device ID ‘687F:C1’, which we know to be one of the upcoming RX Vega GPUs. This particular model comes with a 1630MHz core clock with an 1890MHz clock speed on the HBM2. While running 3DMark 11, this particular RX Vega version scored 31,874 points, which is around 15 percent faster than a GTX 1080 but still some ways off the performance of a GTX 1080Ti.

      • +2

If you're referring to Vega FE benchmarks, that card isn't even designed for gaming. RX VEGA(gaming) will be announced at the end of the month, following that when it's released we will have our hands on some benchmarks.

        • FE and Gaming cards both use the exact same chip.. It will all be up to the software for gaming performance.

        • @Ryxxi: That may be the case, however it has not been confirmed. That's all speculation. FE is not for gaming. We will have to wait for the RX cards to be released see where they fit, until then none can confirm where it's performance sits at.

      • +2

Not sure why this guy is getting downvoted. Vega gaming edition wont be able to beat 1080Ti..Probably wont even come close to it. It will be just like Fury x and 980Ti..

The Vega Frontier edition benchmarks are out. Don't expect gaming version to magically give you 30% more performance.

        • you may be right but the optimised drivers for gaming will make a huge difference

        • gaming version comes out, benches to be 50% better performance than the business class

        • +1

There is a bench out though. And it's sitting dead between 1080 and 1080ti. We are not sure what card it was and where it sits in the heirachy of the new cards but we do know it's a fast card. Running early stage beta drivers and probably a static core for testing purposes the vega cards will probably be much faster once the actual release comes out and amd optimise the drivers.

Time to boycott my own post, FTW3 here I come!
    Oh they're both on backorder….

  • Why didn't you guys buy one of these a few weeks ago?- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/314043

    • blower cooling is normally less efficient so only suits small cases

    • This cooler's an entire league above the turbo.

      • They are equal functionality in practice, because they both do what they need to. Potential slight overclock difference, but you wouldnt notice in real world terms. Depending on case, blower coolers can even be preferable

Personally I'd rather have $90 towards an 1180ti than the evga cooler, but my case exhausts straight upward

        • +1

Pascal cards are more affected by thermals than previous generations due to GPU Boost 3.0, FE cards (and I'd assume to a similar extent the Turbo) already thermal throttles under load at stock settings. That is in addition to the higher noise out from the blower fan too, which is then even worsened if you turn up the fan speed to help with the thermals. IMO if you're spending ~1K on a GPU, you might as well spend the slight extra to get one with a decent cooler and achieve the most out of your card (unless of course you have a specific use case for blower style cards).

  • RIP buyers from this mornings Amazon usa EVGA 1080ti deal

    • Not really, they have stock and you just gotta log in and click cancel, mine hasn't shipped yet.

This 1 month wait is putting me off from ordering though… 2 weeks ETA + another 2 weeks to transit

    • not really, its easy to cancel.

  • +1

Genuinely nice price for the FTW3, first deal since the card's release that I would've went with over my $950 1080 Ti Gaming X.

People with silence oriented cases (or non optimal airflow) might want to look into hybrid cards though, there's only so much air cooling can do and my card's temperature drops by 5-10c when I take the side panel off, resulting in considerably higher sustained clocks.

  • Ordered, thanks OP, glad to see someone step it up and offer us a better price.
I originally wanted the FTW3 but the import tax killed it for me so was forced to bounce back to the SC2.
I get to buy what I wanted but also save $40 while doing it :D
Now to use my pc without gaming for the next month without it crashing.

    • A whole month :|

That's why I didn't cancel the order from your post for this, too long ;)

      • +1

I've updated the post, cancel it and reorder, price has dropped and will save you another $15, unless you don't want to be be put in the back queue and just message Amazon.
Amazon support is great so I don't think they'll decline the refund if it hasn't even been shipped.

        • Oh thanks for looking out!

  • Temporarily out of stock for FTW3 version.

Reckon it's still worth just ordering and seeing what happens, considering no money is taken out until it's shipped?

    • +1

It's abit if a risk too like if our AUD takes a hit and they charge us afterwards… We'd cop the import fee for spending over $1000+?
      $20 breathing room… Praying…

  • I'm guessing this is using a Citibank account or whatever that Latitude no exchange fees card is? FTW3 for £574.14 came up at AU$117 for me using my VISA, got the SC2 for AUD$979.29.

    • Yeah use a no currency fee card and put in the total at http://www.xe.com for the price, it may be off by a few cents or a dollar but it's constantly changing and generally accurate.
You gotta pay in GBP too instead of USD, and make sure amazon currency conversion is off or else you end up paying for TWO conversion fees.

The FTW3 is at a ridiculously cheap price, I'm worried they won't honor it or take forever to stock…
You could've gotten the SC2 for the same price at the other post without having to wait for a restock or saved $30 from here if you had one of those cards.

      • So even with an AU currency Visa I can choose to pay in GBP and save on conversion fees? Noted for future purchases…

        • Paypal also charges for conversion fees and you gotta find it hidden somewhere and turn it off too for all future transactions.

Just open up a citibank bank account if you don't wanna open up a credit card.
Ive saved over $200 on conversation fees this year by linking it to my PayPal for foreign transactions.

    • Ensure you pay in UKP as Amazon's own currency conversion is not favourable compared to the actual conversion rate.

  • Nice Price on FTW 3, Almost $300 cheaper than locally..Just get a FTW 3 its worth the extra..

  • +1

Couldn't hold it on FTW3 and placed an order. If my common sense comes back before the card is in stock, I may cancel the order.
    Thanks OP.

    • Was looking at reviews and according to OC3D, the fans are louder than FE. Sure I can set custom profile, but this gave me just enough push to regain my better sense and cancelled the order. Still a rocking deal if it was an upgrade from older GPU.

  • Are they getting OZBargained? No longer ships to OZ, the product page says.
Edit: Never mind… Seems to be showing from other sellers.

  • The price looks like it has gone up.

    • Still the same on my end? VAT is removed at checkout so the price drops by ~100 pound

      • You are right. Had the sc2 from US ordered and they add express delivery for free but then it was charging me $78 import duty since they had change to express. I cancelled and place the ftw3 on order.

  • Will this be bottlenecked by a 6502 running at 1MHz?

    • No,overclock the cpu to 2Mhz. 1080ti..will be the bottleneck. 6502 is boss cpu…

  • Thank you baz3189 . I've ordered the FTW3

  • +1

Gaming GPU? This stuff is for scientific computing. Our newest server has 8 of these cards :). Plus 1.5TB of RAM.

  • Will a 450 watt psu be fine to power 1080ti, 7700 non k cpu, 16gb ram and a single ssd drive?

    Thanks.

    • +1

I would recommend 550 as a minimum. Test of the 1080ti see it reach 300+ in spikes so the extra overhead will ensure stability under heavy load. Always better to have a little extra wiggle room to work with.

    • u need psu 300 + 30% = 400 w + 50 = 450 ok stable continuous

    • You should buy a new PSU - never cheap out on the PSU. One mistake with a cheap unit could fry your whole system - $2k $3k setup blown by a cheap PSU is not worth the risk

      • I have never heard of a PSU frying a whole system because it's underpowered …

        • More about poor quality. My motherboard got fried in a blackout and didn't have a 80+gold
I would never risk it again.

I don't know if any brand makes a quality PSU that is under 550watt. So I just assume if it's low power - it is also likely to be a cheap brand/qualitu

        • Was reading yesterday about the 'dirt' cheap "Shaw" PSU's that MSY are selling for about $40 each or something… apparently lots of horror stories of them frying stuff.

        • @x853:

The specific model of my 450W is Antec NeoECO II. It is bronze rated. So not a total piece of shit like the shaw.

    • I'd recommend looking for a 1000w PSU on ebay, there's normally plenty that goes on sale. I picked my Zalman 1000w about 8 years ago for less than $100 and it's still going strong today.

  • Thanks, got the SC2. From what I read the difference is pretty much negligible, unless your stifling it in a small case.

  • Damn I messaged them asking if they could charge me now without the potential risk of paying import fees…
Hope they decided decline it cause its now $972 instead of $980 lol

  • FTW3 out of stock :(

    • I think it was always out of stock at this price. You can still buy it, just no eta at this time. I place my order for one and just a waiting game now. I'll just cancel once instock if our dollar turns to crap.

  • +3

I have had extensive experience with making purchases close to the $1k GST import limit.

Shipping is not included in the claculation of import duties. So as long as your product cost amount is less than $1AUD based on the exchange rate on the day it arrives to Australia you are fine.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/295456

Here is an example of a situation I faced.FYI I did not pay anything in customs charges

  • Looks like FTW is back in stock, but at £899GBP !!
No movement on the one I ordered though..

    • Maybe suppliers hiked the price but I also dont see any listings from Amazon anymore… Theyve removed the SC2 too… Bad news incoming :(?

    • That'd be a third party seller, Amazon have removed all their EVGA listings as their sale has ended. They'll fulfill all orders placed before relisting them.

      • Ironically, Amazon just emailed me since my last post.

        • Hello,

        • Please be advised that we have a revised delivery date for the items you ordered on July 07 2017 (Order #xxxxxxxxxx).

        • "EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 GAMING, 11GB GDDR5X, iCX Technology - 9 Thermal Sensors & RGB LED G/P/M, 3x Async Fan Control, Optimized Airflow Design Graphics Card 11G-P4-6696-KR"

        • Estimated arrival date: July 26 2017 - July 31 2017

I might set a date in my calendar a day or two before this to remind me to either cancel it or leave it, depending on any GPU news.

        • Those estimates are usually for when it arrives to you, meaning it'll probably ship 1-2 weeks earlier.

At least Perth seems to get it 2 days earlier than Melb :(
          Estimated arrival date: July 28 2017 - August 02 2017

        • Yup its preparing to dispatch now, got charged $973 in my bank statement, log into your Amazon uk to see the updated status.
Mine shows dispatching on July 13.

I hope Amazon uk is as fast as it's US counterpart even for standard shipping, usually receive things within a week especially with the weekends in between.

        • Yep me too! :)
It's dispatching today for me, apparently!

How I knew it had progressed was when I got a phone call from 28degrees trying to figure out if my card had been stolen because of this purchase.. :)

And yeah, Amazon US have been awesome with me so hopefully UK is similar!

        • I still dont have a eta yet. When did you guys place your orders in?

        • @TheStapler: No ETA for me yet either, placed my order on July 7 just before 11pm AEDT

        • @Lafrin:

Yeah same are around 6am syd time.

        • @TheStapler:

I ordered the FTW3 just past midnight on July 8th, it's due to be shipped tomorrow.

        • +1

@TheStapler: Got an update early this morning. Not sure when it dispatches and charges me, but the delivery date is "Arriving 31 Jul - 2 Aug"

EDIT: I'm dumb, dispatches July 15 which is tomorrow

        • @Lafrin:
Yeah ive got my update as well email says "Estimated arrival date: August 01 2017 - August 04 2017" but website showing preparing for dispatch. Which is the 16th and Arriving 31 Jul - 2 Aug.They have charged my card now $963.68 aud.
          Cheaper then expected 😁

        • @TheStapler: $993.54 for me…as long as it's under 1k I guess

        • Anyone's order stuck on "dispatching soon"?

Mine was meant to ship on the 16th; the credit card hold has disappeared too…

        • @KevinL:
Mine was saying the same. It got dispatched late monday night 17tb was ment to be dispatch on the 16th.

  • +3

Wow they use UPS express saver…
Will be here by Monday if that's the case…

Damn I just love Amazon's definition of standard shipping… I wonder what they would've used if we had actually picked priority lol.
Express saver is apparently 3 business days but with the weekends in between it'll be here by Monday.

    • Did you order the ftw3 or sc2?

      • FTW3.

Really really good price compared to what others are offering, even when the next gen gfx card comes out I doubt this would ever drop to below $900, maybe the sc2 and standard 1080ti, but not this.
I think it'll probably be discontinued since evga is always making low stock or working on their next line of cards.
Like both Amazon US and UK already removed FTW3 but not the SC2, probably temporarily or permanent eventually.

    • Hey Zeral,

      Have you received it yet?
      Mine was dispatched today.

      • It went from UK to US to Sydney and is currently in my local city Melbourne, I expect it to be here tomorrow, otherwise Wednesday at the latest.

Since you're from Sydney, it'll be 1 day quicker than mine .

  • Has any received shipping details on the SC black?

  • +1

    I received my FTW3 today.

    • 11 day turn around is pretty impressive given they had no date at the time of posting!

  • +1

FTW is back under AUD1000 on Amazon.com.

    • I notice that too. About $985.77aud delivered if pay with 28 degree card.
