Windows 10 Pro Key for $14.99 via Selly

Moved to Forum: Original Link

I have been looking for a Windows 10 Pro key for a week or so and this is the best price I could find! With the 25OFF coupon it is $14.99.
I purchased this one and it worked well.
I can see the seller also has MS Office 2016 Pro Plus for the same price. I am thinking to buy that one too.

    • Now that this has been REVIEWED and moderated, and there goes the dodgy seller too, disappearing to oblivion!

to the parting note of. thank u to those who invested in my illegal legit key enterprise, anyone wanna fund my hire a ransomware startup business.

  • +1

where is there a cheap non-dodgy key?

  • -2

I was not sure too, but then I thought for $14.99 I can't go wrong.
I got the key delivered to my PayPal straight away.
    And it works!

    • +23

      And it works

But for how long is the unknown factor

      • -8

How would it stop working??? Im gonna assume these arent stolen keys ahah Stolen keys probs wouldnt activate in the first place

        • +11

Google it. Save me the pain please.

        • -6

@TightBottom: nah ceebs lmao I got one a while back and im still using it with no problems

        • +14

          How would it stop working???

          lol

        • +2

Windows regularly checks the activation status of your key. There is only so many times you can activate a key so if they keep reselling the same key to multiple people it will be blacklisted and your copy of windows will become deactivated. I'm sure that Microsoft use more sophisticated methods of detecting these illegitimate keys, but that's just one example.

        • -6

@joshk: Maybe they only sell it once? What lovely people lmao

        • I was as naive as you are now. The key stopped working after one year. Many msdn users sell their keys and make money and they are valid for a short time.

        • @StiffHindQuarters: Yup also sometimes MAK's from large companies get acquired and sold on the net, Microsoft will eventually issues the organization a replacement key and blacklist it.

You are almost certainly going against Microsoft licensing terms by installing this, and / or the ebay key, they will work but thats not the same as them being legal. But if you don't care you don't care and for $5 why would you care.

If you don't want to pay for an actual legit copy of Windows, instead of buying a dodgy (but "activates") key from a dodgy reseller, why not just join the Windows Insider program instead? https://insider.windows.com/ You usually can stay on the same build as general release and it's free. Although with Insider you are supposed to use it on a computer "Licensed for Windows 10" but there are no checks.

    • +3

I did not know that. I am not too tech savvy.

    • +14

      Windows Insider program:

The Program collects and transmits data to Microsoft regarding activities on your device, including personal information; Microsoft shares some data with partners. See the Privacy Statement for more information.

      • +8

Even with a legit licence for Windows 10 it still shares data.

        • True. I meant to highlight the personal information part which is very specifically mentioned.

      • +3

Eight hours later, he found that the idle Windows 10 box had tried over 5,500 connections to 93 different IP addresses, out of which almost 4,000 were made to 51 different IP addresses belonging to Microsoft.

Fresh Windows 10 Enterprise. All privacy settings turned on.

I'm pretty sure I've found a better source and topic on the matter, but here is the rest of that article.

        • +1

I'm more worried about what personal information you're very specifically agreeing to give up.
          Also in your article:

A September 2015 blog from Terry Myerson, head of the Windows team, explained that while Windows 10 does send some of your data to the company, everything is encrypted and doesn't include any of your personal details.

This doesn't include any of your content or files, and we take several steps to avoid collecting any information that directly identifies you, such as your name, email address or account ID.

        • So they can collect & transmit thousands of separate pieces of data autonomously..

…and yet, these supposedly re-sold keys aren't being blocked/blacklisted immediately, nor the sellers audited.

          Microsoft's priorities are rather odd.

      • +6

Sounds like Windows 10 doing its job.

  • Just looking at this guys other items, how would the Office 365 Account be dodgy? That one cant be!

    • +7

They've parted out an MSDN, BizSpark, or Partner Action Pack account. It's a serious violation of the program terms, and the keys can be invalidated at any time if Microsoft detects it. The license is not valid for the scenario and you may as well just pirate it - at least that way no-one gets paid, instead of a criminal.

      • +1

this is super common on sites like HackForums or MPGH, and that's probably where these links are coming from.

Win10 hovers around $5, Office hovers around $6-7. (USD)

    • +1

you can buy stolen keys by the masses easily on the darkweb then resell em like these crims.

People that buy from these crims support their wider network of illegal enterprises. Part of the problem is - there is a market for it on OZBARGAIN and other sites…..

    Uh oh

  • +8

If you're on Win 7/8 just do the 'upgrade' it can still be had from here for FREE

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/accessibility/windows10upgra…

    • +1

This is probs more for people that need a starting OS….

      • +5

Install win 7, 'activate it' via one of the MANY methods out there, then do the upgrade. Works well ;)

        • Fairest

        • @bargainmuncher: Well I kinda feel these 'cheap' keys are just dodgy as, so why spend money on them! when you can do it the free way ;)

        • @JimmyF: Yeah I suppose its a bit easier just to get them though. I mean for 15 bucks its not worth the hassle IMO

        • +1

I just installed Win10, used my old 7 key and it worked. No need to install 7 then upgrade.

        • +1

@eediot: I need Windows 10 for my NUC. I have my old Windows & Professional and I'll use that key. Thanks.

        • So can the upgrade to W10 be pushed through with any 'method', or does the check on the W7 need a proper key too?

        • @pifts: as long as win7/8 is 'activated' cough windows loader, then yes it will upgrade to a legal w10 key.

      • There's a better way (which will save you from buying this key), as long as you have upgraded Windows 7 to 10.

If you have upgraded your Windows 7 to 10 using the free upgrade, you can find your product key. Google for a program that tells you what your key is (I think it's called Produ Key or something) and then you can create a Windows 10 USB and install Windows 10 using that key and it will be a legit copy of Windows 10.

I know this because I had to do it recently (HDD failed).

    • -1

      @JimmyF
I tried the free upgrade but it did not work.

      • Worked for me many times. What was your issue?

        • I did try 3 times with the free one but it kept failing.
With this key it worked first time.
If $14.99 saves me from fiddling for 2 hours I am happy with that. And I have a clean install. I just use it for home use.

        • @maxi: LOL, just fresh install Win10 then activate with your WIN7 key, yes I mean activate Win10 with Win7 key. It will be stupid to install Win7 first then upgrade to Win10.

        • @leetec: Installing Win10 with a Win7 key never worked for me.

I've always had to install Win7 and activate it and then run the Win10 upgrade.
Once inside Win10, it'll activate as you've come from a 'legit' activated Win7.

Then you can do a clean/fresh Win10 install after and you're set.

        • @Deviner: Next time do this; get your Windows 10 product key (Google how to do this, I did it by downloading a program which tells you what your product key is, think it was called ProduKey). Then create a bootable Windows 10 creation media USB (guide is on the Microsoft website).

Use the two in conjunction to install Windows 10 from scratch.

        • @Ghost47: Just seeing this now, but ironically, I literally just did this about an hour ago after I upgraded mobo/cpu - didn't work in my particular case.
Used ProduKey before I swapped stuff out and got my key and entered it during the initial install on new hardware - had reservations about that and maybe could've waited until I was fully in windows before trying it.

Either way, I'm not surprised as I think Win10 activation is bound to hardware unlike previous versions - also, I had a pretty dodgy VL key to begin with.. :)

        • @Deviner: coincidence indeed! Sad to hear it didn't work for you, I guess it's smart for Microsoft to link it to your hardware (mobo most likely?)

        • @Ghost47: Yeah I reckon the mobo probably did it!
Ah well, it was a good run! :) I reckon it would've worked as you described if it was just a standard reinstall.

      • Using Windows 10 installs up to the "Anniversary" edition works fine. But ive heard the latest "creator" edition can have problems with activation afterwards.

        • upgraded my w10 to creator, no issues. What issues are you seeing?

    • +1

Dude, you just saved me $$
Thought I needed to pay for new OS for my 2 computers but now I will just do this

  • +7

Genuine question. If something MS is selling at $300 is selling from third parties at $5-$15, it's a pretty safe bet there's something off with such keys, so why even bother paying? Does it give a sense of morality or something?

    • -1

Its probs from an organisation or something that gets a few extra and they sell them off for cheap But IDK

      • +3

        AngryAlfred

        Username checks out

    • +2

      A. They're stolen keys.

      B. They're actually education keys from things like OnTheHub. Against terms to use for your own person use, but who's gonna check?

      C. They're Enterprise mass license keys. Same as above.

      • +1

I feel like there could be something dodgy going on, but why doesn't Microsoft stop it? They could easily catch these people on ebay? Surely they know about it…

        • +1

          Because its peanuts to them?

        • +1

They go after the company rather than the individual. It'd cost them thousands to take you to court for a $150 license, or tens of thousands to take a business to court for hundreds of thousands/millions.

        • They regularly catch these people. Which is one of the risks you run by buying these dodgy keys, you may find in anything from 1 week to a year or so that your product becomes unactivated. They are 100% not legitimate keys, they will be coming from one of several methods
          a) purchased with stolen credit cards
          b) stolen from enterprises
          c) taken from msdn type licenses
          d) taken from educational licenses (less likely as then their actually some cost to the seller whereas the other even less legal ways are more profitable).

regardless the old rule of if a deal appears too good to be true then it probably is. These sellers always have some excuse about how they can sell way below even OEM costs to large distributers e.g. "we have a special deal with MS", "These are unused keys from a business" etc etc. It is all 100% bullshit and it is far worse to buy from these scumbags than it is to pirate as you are fueling their illegal activities like credit card theft by doing so.

  • -1

Install the pirated version of windows 7 and do the free upgrade to 10 and get a valid license. simple. as mentioned by the commentor above me, if you're going to buy dodgy keys may as well just do it properly

    • +3

But can you do a clean install this way. I hate installing a new OS over an earlier version.

      • I always do a clean install and I went from pirated win7 on launch to 10… I've reformatted a million times over, it will add the license to your MS account too if you use one

        • +1

          ILLEGAL

        • +2

          😎

        • +4

@bargainmuncher: its basically the same as buying these keys. I have a valid Windows 8 license and never used it, so how much more 'illegal' can you get, buying one of these hacked/carded/scammed keys or just getting a legit one for free from MS?

        • +1

@wingwang: BREAKING THE LAW, BREAKING THE LAW!

        • +1

@bargainmuncher: its cute that you think these keys are 'legal'

        • Once you have done an upgrade install from Win7 to Win10 once, Microsoft keeps the ID of your motherboard on file and you can do clean installs of 10 whenever you like as it already has your machine on file as registered.

      • +1

Once you have the 'key' its a digital key assigned to your computers fingerprint. So yes, once you have a w10 key via the upgrade method, you can do a CLEAN windows 10 install without issues.

      • Yes, you have the option to install over the current or to download onto a USB for a clean install

      • You can. After the upgrade use ProduKey to find your product key, then create a bootable Windows 10 installation USB, then use the two together to fresh install Windows 10.

    • +2

Just as legitimate as these keys, however your method isn't creating an obvious delusion of legitimacy that some people want.

    • Might as well just say that in every deal posted here and just say why pay for it when you can steal it?

      • +1

If every deal in here was similar to this, then yes you are correct.

It's basically the same as some dude selling "brand new" iPhones for $5 out the back of his van. Does paying this guy make it legal? Or does it just encourage him more as he is getting rewarded for his action?

  • Why do none of these cheap keys work to upgrade home to pro?

    • +1

Will you use pro features anyway?

      • Yes - remote desktop

    • +1

going to have to do a 'reinstall of pro' and then enter the licence

  • +3

    good deal

  • Anyone else to confirm its working?
