I've got one of these and although the black is black I'm not getting the BIG difference.

Is there any set up tips anyone can give me?

I have it in a dark room.

    thx

    • the viewing angle should be another big bonus for you.

      • Hmmm
Its actually very sticky with sport - especially fast moving stuff - you do double takes at the screen as it jumps.
It sticks a lot with rugby league.
My 10 year old samsung plasma is better - can't kill those with a big stick

But with this new guide i'll be sorted!

Turn off TruMotion for live TV, it doesn't deal well with sports. Keep Real Cinema enabled though. Also I found the reds and greens were very saturated on my B6T, so I dialled back some of the colour settings and overall it's much better than my old Samsung Plasma.

I've been wanting to buy an OLED TV for ages - but have been waiting for a a 4k, 55 inch model for 2k… this doesn't appear to be happening. LCD's have been coming down nicely for 4k TV's each year as the technology matures. But for OLED, each year is a new generation and the same/higher price tag! With no competition I imagine LG can get away with this for ages too.

    • you could just get a plasma that will be equal if not better picture quality and once OLEDs hit the under $2000 pick one up then.

      • +11

        Who sells plasmas these days?

      • I actually already own the last generation of plasma created by Panasonic. It is quite nice, but my father has an older OLED and it looks much better still. The only way up from here is to go OLED! Also there are no 4k Plasma's.

    • Sony and Panasonic are releasing their own models in the next month or so. But im sure will be around the LG mark if not higher

      • I did not know this, I thought everyone else had given up on them. Looks like I have some research to do, thanks!

        • +1

          They are using LG panels.

      • They both use the LG panel so the picture will be almost identical. In fact, all of this year's lg models use the same panel so apparently the picture is identical on all of them. It's the look of the TV that you're paying for.

Nope, A lot goes into the firmware, software and other componentry. I can assure you that when they are reviewed, there's differences.

Put it this way, Samsung and the other big LCD panel manufacturers sell their panels to a lot of cheap chinese brands. Do they ever look as good? No.

Panasonic had a lot of experience in perfecting plasma tech, they extracted great things. I'd imagine their OLEDs will be very good.

@Ripped: >Do they ever look as good? No. Yes.

        • @Diji1:
          Rubbish.

        • There's also the sound bar.

And if you go for the ultra thin one that you can hang up on your wall, you're looking at $13k.

They have been gradually coming down, they started at a higher place than 4k's. Should hit $2000 sometime next year.

    damn, where is the 65"!

In Australia, the " , " (comma) designates units into thousands. It is not " . " (dot) designating the decimal point.
That's for European weirdos, since in Gramma, a . signifies an end whilst a , signifies a continuation… so in this sense Australia's adoption makes the most logic.

Let's not start with America and their alternate inferior measurements like Fahrenheit, Gallons, Inches, Miles.

Somewhere out there in the universe, there's a more advanced civilisation that probably uses Base-12 and the decimal system.
These aliens probably have two opposing thumbs, bilateral symmetry with twelve tentacles and use Dozenal/Decimal Time.
I, for one, welcome our new Dozopus overlords.

  • Watch this tv disappear

    • I don't think there were any to begin with. I tried postcodes from every state just out of interest and no shop had any in stock.

  • Tried adding to cart, won't let me. FML

"2.2ch Dolby Atmos audio system" - from Myer's specs for this model.

How can Atmos work with only 2.2 channels?

  • For those on the fence, this is a great TV but just an ok price. I got it cheaper a few weeks ago under the bing lee 15% off eBay sale ($2886). With new OLEDs from Sony etc coming out I think there is more room in that price tag.

  • Wasn't it cheaper in the last 20% off sale? VideoPro I think it was.

  • Has anyone got some hands on experience gaming on one of these? I heard the input lag was poor to begin with, then the firmware update that addresses it caused about a centimetre of screen tearing at the bottom of the screen..

Thanks for getting in touch! I've had a look into this one but we don't have any stock across Tasmania, so sorry about that.

Thanks for your interest in Myer :)

  • hrmmm id give it 2-3 years when they are under 2000 for 65" and there is sufficient bluray content and 4k streaming options with NBN

    • Doubt it. How much will the inferior LED/LCDs be then, or Samsung's rubbish QLEDs? $1200 for a 65"?

      • nah they willl prob just be discontinued like plasma's or lcd (with led now)…. or 4k

or just be for the cheap crappy brands, or ultra big 80-100"

hey, im not future teller who knows.
