Pressure cookers are so good for the time poor. One of the most-used piece of kitchen equipment in our home especially in winter. Great for stews :)

    • Agreed, although I think 6L is far too small.

You can only really fill them 2/3 max, so you only have 4L.

Pressure cookers are great for cheap cuts of meat, gravy beef and chuck steak come out so tender and gelatinous.

I have filled this one upto the 90% mark, but as soon as pressure builds up I drop the heat down to just enough to maintain the pressure. Never had any problems. I don't like how meat goes stringy when cooking in the pressure cooker at high heat.

Try doing it with food that foams, like lentils and some types of beans.

It will splutter food and the particles will clog the release valve.

Your manual will also tell you not to fill them up past 2/3.

        • @Scab:

Haven't tried to cook anything but meat in mine, good tip though. Thanks.

  • recipes? i have had one of these for a year or two and use it every now and again but not as much as i should…have struggled to find online reviews with user reviews and tips…

    • You can use most slow cooker recipes (only recipes with some liquid), except the cook time will be measured in minutes rather than hours. Different meat/beans/pulses have different cook times. You can even steam rice. I use it everyday.

My fave is a stew with gravy beef with half hour cook time. The beef just falls apart.

Making stock is also no effort. Again, half an hour instead of hours.

I have one of these(10+ years) and love it. I go through patches normal in winter when I use it a lot.

  • Aldi actually has a 6L one on sale last Wed for $60 and there were still quite a bit in stock at my local.

    Does 10/15 PSI.
