I currently have a i7 2600k with GTX 970. The GTX 970 has been good and the most recent game I'm playing at the moment is Witcher 3. However I've just ordered the Oculus from the recent sale, so I'm wondering whether it might be time to upgrade the 970. Do you think I should upgrade the 970 but leave the CPU, or is it time to upgrade CPU/Motherboard/GPU all at once?
CPU is aging but not hugely critical these days (Im on 2500k and can play games fine). Its up to you whether you want to upgrade everything else along with the video card (I couldnt personally be bothered with changing everything again).
Your CPU should still be more than capable. Maybe replace the GPU and see how it all goes. You can overclock the i7 if you haven't already.
