ING Surprise Turns out as Crap

About a week or 2 earlier, ING email mentioned "Surprise is coming, get excited and wait for it"
At first i thought the surprise is the return of 2% cashback but obviously not.
Then i saw the lower the interest bonus to 2.8% rate which is a "Surprise" to me.

Another email came in on trialing new product known as "Everyday Round up"
Which is crap really, something like your eftpos/contactless purchase of $4.50 will get charged $5 instead and the fiddy cents goes to your Saving Maximiser acct.

What a load of useless product.
Increased super fees, removed cashback, decrease bonus interest rates, increase home loan % rates.
Time to move everything away from ING.

/Rant over.

You got a surprise so what are you complaining about?

    Sheesh.

    • Some people are just impossible to please.

        I'm not surprised with that.

  • Thanks for making the call for all of us.

The negative 0.2% wasn't well received by myself either, but sadly they're still leaders for ease and greatest of the 'major' banks for savings interest rate.

i'm not sure why you are whinging. the transaction & saving accounts are still very good compared to most other banks.

  • Op, where are you going to move your savings to? A lower interest rate account?

      MEBank, 3.05% interest rate.

  • ING email mentioned "Surprise is coming, get excited and wait for it"

    What was the subject?

I quite like the 3% offered by RAMS (now wholly owned by Westpac). Only downsides are minimum $200 monthly deposit and no withdrawals allowed so only good for long term savings.

If you don't have the $200 to deposit, just open 2 savings accounts (free up to 10) and transfer the balance from one account to the other on the 1st of every month assuming the balance is over $200.

      • Doesn't the $200 have to come from outside the bank?

        • +1

No, it's a simple check if the balance has increased by 200. Which is the case when you do the above.

        • @peaksense: thank you :)
