Xiaomi Xiaofang Smart 1080p Camera - New Firmware Geoblocks

Hi all,

My 3 XiaoMi Xiaofang cameras just all got upgraded to firmware 3.2.0.30 and they now do not work. They previously worked fine, but now get to connecting and authenticating then swap back to connecting and get stuck (this is via the Mi Home app). Apparently this is a new, known issue and the resolution is here:

I haven't tried it yet, apart from getting the old version of Mi Home (note you have to uninstall the latest version first).

Will try camera firmware downgrading shorty.

This was frustrating the hell out of me as to why they stopped working, until I found the above link.

  • So the updating is an automated process or we can disable auto update firmware ?

    • Mine are still on the old firmware so I guess it's manual?

  • I don't have one of these (yet) but check this issue: https://github.com/samtap/fang-hacks/issues/185

There's possibly further related info in a couple of the other issues listed here: https://github.com/samtap/fang-hacks/issues

  • Has anyone been able to downgrade their firmware? I've tried a number of different ways without success. The info at https://www.andryou.com/2017/07/11/setting-xiaomi-xiaofang-s… is pretty detailed, but no go for me….. The Mi Home app works, but I can't get the fang hacks to fire up…. sigh….

    • Im in the same boat. Havent been able to hack or downgrade. PITA

  • Hi pumpkins

    Thanks indeed for your post.
It pointed to exactly the right resources to get the Xiaofang camera going!

I was getting ready to chuck this purchase from GearBest- as the return cost and effort may not have been worth the $19…

I could now get is streaming through the older version of the Mi App.

Please add your experience on this:
When the camera is on home WiFi; can the phone with the MiApp access the steam from elsewhere?

    Regards

  • Sorry to hijack the topic but does anyone know how to record with this thing?

    • You need to insert a preformatted MicroSD card, FAT32.

Then open your Mi Home app, view your camera, press the (…) settings button near the top, Camera settings and enable Auto Record (Set to "open")

      • Ok so I managed to get it working. However everytime I go to look at the video recording, it's saying Download fail. Please try again later.

  • Any updates on firmware downgrade available?

    • Scroll down to the bottom of this thread.
      https://github.com/samtap/fang-hacks/issues/122

Ive managed to downgrade though i seem to be having other knock on issues from my previous attempts, cant keep it stable on the network, though at least its no rebooting every 30 seconds like the old firmware!

  • Sorry, thought I’d tack on to this thread as it seems like a few people know their stuff.

I’m trying to share my camera via the Mi app so my wife can access on her phone. Found the share setting, and it states the invite has been sent, but nothing is showing in the app on my wife’s phone.

She has the current version while I have an older version - would this be the issue? Both iPhones.

If this is the issue, would I be better off trying to get the old version of the app onto her phone? Or is it safe for me to upgrade to the latest version?

    Thanks in advance!
