Solar Orb 5.4kw System - Phono Solar & Solax 5KW Inverter - Battery Ready System - Installed at $4,152.00

150

Hi Bargain Hunters,

Stumbled across this deal at my mums joint couple of weeks ago and just got the system in thought I would share. Not bad price, brochure says multiple states but not sure if same price as the 4,152.00 we got in Sydney.

20 X 270w Phono Solar Power Panels
1 x Solax 5.0KW Inverter (Battery Ready)
Apparently fancy branded mount kit.
Fully installed was $4,152.00

I had been shopping for a while and the brochure landed in mailbox. I just uploaded the digital copy pages they sent me on special but they had a whole catalogue of stuff that might interest some. If want the whole brochure either contact them or comment and I can probably upload it all.

John

  • Is this a good brand?

I believe so I did fair bit of research and it all come up well, they sent me a lot of info on Phono and they seem like big company. The panels looked good and info they sent told me government uses them. Of course you never know though but I was happy with what I seen.

Great to see you tested it before posting the deal thumbs up!!

    • Thanks mate! Mum got stung first time round off another mob lost her deposit but these guys were good least I could do.

  • Hmmm, why don't these guys show in a google search? What sort of deposit do they want?

  • I'm curious as to how they calculate the Estimated Annual savings?

    • +1

They did explain it at the time and it made sense but I couldn't run you across it there was an equation behind it. Depended on what you used and sold or something. Wait few months and ill tell you exactly what it saved haha.

  • I would post the question as to the quality of the components and the reliability of Solarorb on Whirlpool.
There is a lot of experience there.
I have been interested in Solar for quite a few years, and haven't come across Phono or Solax often.
But they may be the salt of the earth or something.

  • Yeah I am interested as well but have done enough homework to determine best brands etc

  • The savings are based on using all the power behind the meter, if you allow for 24c /kWh. But in most cases you will export most of this unless you stay at home all day with all your appliances on.

    Rule of thumb-

a PV system will generate on average over a year (X) kwh/per kW installed/per day.
For Sydney X can equal 4,for a system that is reasonably well orientated.

So it is reasonable to expect a 5kW system to generate on average around 20kWh day, more in summer, less in winter.

Around midday you might have 4.5kW available, that's a lot of power, so most of it usually gets exported, unless you are optimised for solar

There claims are a little misleading, prices are cheap….

  • Anyone can comment on the price with storage? Looking for something with battery to get better savings, not sure what proves.

    • I can't give metrics, but I asked recently and I was told it wasn't ecomonical for me to have a battery system unless my area was prone to blackouts. Mind you I use under 10KW of energy each day, probably a lot different if you use a lot of energy per day.

      • That's interesting, thanks for the reply.

    • I am looking for a solar system with battery at the moment.
I just talked to Hello Solar today.
They are offering a 5kw system with FREE Enphase battery for $6500.
The panel is Astronergy and the inverter is SMA hybrid.
      Is $6500 a good price?

  • Hi all,

Try to read the below guide.

    https://www.solarquotes.com.au/solar101.html

  • How does this compare to EuroSolar's 5KW system $3992

  • Anyone figure out what type/voltage batteries it works with?? Says nothing in the specs.

  • I have ordered a 3.3kwh system with ads solar for $2800, just to give a price comparison.

    • Be careful with them they are local based Sydney? If its same people the install grey imports. Trust me we had been on market for months digging through the rubbish out there. That EuroSolar looks alright we nearly went them before Solar Orb their prices were good.

      • Thanks, im definitely no expert but I think there local warranties are pretty similar to solar orb. They did feature in a story on the news and recently. Does solar orb include metering as some don't, including the ads deal. I managed to get free metering by switching to powershop. Anyway, I've learnt from the lg energy solutions scam to be careful.

        • No metering was included I meant though the panel itself we got authentic from Manufacturer I called Phono office and clarified serial codes for warranty. Just saying something you must be careful of I am not very experienced either but we were shopping around for 6 months and got to learn quite a bit as to why there are price variations in systems. Our 2 choices were either Solar Orb or Euro Solar that was end result.

        • @John Greeves: euro solar use high pressure sales techniques. The told me they have one system left in my area at the special price. Load of crap.

        • @thegrinch: Yes we had same feeling thats why we chose Solar Orb but they were both the winners on product and price from our research. Let me know how you go with your system as well I would like to stay updated if possible.

        • @John Greeves: will do, they've said install date in next few weeks

  • Any chance of posting the original electronic document somewhere?
It had download links to the specs. Or could you post the spec download links in the OP?
    Thanks.

    • Would like this too. Thanks.

    • Hi,
