Telstra $30 Starter Pack for $10 Delivered @ Telstra Online

1160

Saw this on Facebook. No clue why it says Refer a Friend campaign - not associated in any way.

Expiry noted as 30th June but clicking on Buy Online Now shows the price as $10. Haven't purchased myself so please let me/mods know if it doesn't follow through so they can remove the deal.

Edit: Expiry now shows up as 24th July! :D

  • Noob question: I'm new to Telstra (am usually on tpg prepaid) and am looking at getting a sim for the AFL live pass.
How do I switch to the simplicity/long life plan?

Just had this price beat at Officeworks Gawler Place (SA). Receipt to help with other stores https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/168819/50798/20170720_ā€¦

Keswick Officeworks also price beat but only on the mobile starter kits, not the mobile broadband ones

    • I just bought four in East Perth OW. Had to do a live chat with Telstra to prove to them you can purchase more than 1 at once.

    • Thx for this!
I just tried OTR at West Beach.
He said the special finished yesterday. I asked him to scan it to make sure.
      It scanned as $30. :(

    • Do you reckon we'd still be able to get a price beat with just this receipt seeing as how they might be out of stock online at Telstra?

      • +1

No, can't price match a price match

  • Just ordered. However…

"For security reasons, you'll need to take delivery of this order yourself, and show the same ID you used to order online."

Not sure if I will be at home most likely not hopefully they don't care?

Else going Auspost for this? Insane

    • +1

Well if you aren't at home they will send it nearest post office you can pickup on weekends

    • got mine today definitely had to show ID or you aint getting it

  • +1

Out of stock :( You guys bought them all ….LOL

    • Of course. Amazing it could last for 2 days

    Back in stock guys

  • Managed to order 3 on 20th, arrived 21st. Expiry 13 Jun 2019.

    • If I order now is it fair to assume it will also have a 2019 expiry?

      • +2

        For you, August 2017

  • Oops. We can't connect you with that page
Usually we're great at connecting, but not this time.
We'll try harder - but in the meantime we suggest you head back to the Pre-Paid mobiles home page.

  • I had one of these $30 prepaid kits from yonks ago (don't remember when I bought it) and it expires today so I ported my wife's prepaid over to it from Amaysim today. Something weird going on now, old sim not on network, new sim not on network, maybe it just needs more time.

Network Unknown, Voice out of Service, Data out of Service. Hmmm

I'm assuming I don't need to "recharge" this sim but even if I did, when I try it doesn't recognise either number (the one of package or her actual number)

"We're unable to identify this number. Please ensure the number you have entered is for an active Telstra Pre-Paid service."

In the meantime I wanted to ask a probably stupid question, do these $30 kits come with a $30 credit? I selected prepaid plus, 28 days 3GB unlimited txt etc. So am I right in assuming no further money needs to be spent for the next 28 days? Stupid question I'm sure but just double checking. In the past I only used these kits in a data device essentially for the Google Play credits so I've never actually used one in a phone until now.

    • No extra money needed

      • Thanks for replying.

Telstra LiveChat rep said it was already expired. Rather than argue with them I got a $30 Optus kit for $10 at 7-Eleven and moved on.

        • Were you able to port your wife's number out of the "expired" Telstra?

    • +1

Telstra may retire/reuse phone numbers a little BEFORE prepaid Starter Pack expiry! A nasty practice.

Has been discussed before. Best to activate by SIM number as phone number is likely no longer allocated to that SIM. I found this out when I checked phone number on pack, it was in use on someone's prepaid service.

If you tried to activate before expiry - complain. Telstra credited my account with $30. If you don't have an account, get a free $2 SIM card delivered from Telstra asap.

      • Doesn't surprise me.

To be honest I just had no fight left after the Yomojo shamozzle, and a wife breathing down my neck wanting her phone working ASAP so $10 for peace of mind was money well spent. But I might give it a shot if only to score myself some Google Play credit :)

        • It can be handy as is just credit. I complained, a note was recorded & $30 transferred when I set up $2 SIM or could go straight to another Telstra mobile account.

Yomojo was a draining deal. TA got them out of a lot of complaints with CR paying out.

        • @Infidel:

Okay I'll get onto it then :)

        • @Click_It:
Just identify by the SIM number, rather than the phone number.

System will show as invalid, so tell them the expiry date & date tried to activate.

Tell them you know about their dodgie practice of recycling phone numbers before starter pack expiry! And not bloody happy about this inconveniencešŸ˜
