This deal is assuming that patrons of Carl's Jr can even fit through the door in the first place.

    • +1

Or they forget to build a door opening

    • Maybe they'll let them waddle through the drive-thru.

    • +1

Possibly they will for their 1st burger, 3 months in might be a different story. Maybe the calculations for giving away a years worth of free burgers has been worked out assuming that the winners will need to be hoisted out of the house through the roof via a crane to have their bed sores lanced 4 months into their winning year.

  • curious to see how much they'd sell the burgers for here in Oz since they're priced at a more premium range in NZ compared to maccas..

good to see they're bringing new franchises here though

    • +1

They operate at Brisbane airport (Virgin Domestic terminal) and are priced at a premium to Maccas etc, even when taking in to account airport pricing.

      • $14.95 for a medium big Carl meal. Still hungry. Never again

  • Who pays for the medical bill at the end of the year though

    • Carl's Jr

      • If you can fit through the door

    • Or they forget to build a door opening

      • +18

        woooaahhh deja vu

    • +3

      'Extreme-Bulk' Billed?

    • That's the catch.

    • +2

If you cant eat one burger a week without needing to go to the hospital, im pretty sure you have some sort of serious medical condition.

    • we all pay for medicare…

  • +5

    I'm already here lining up

    • +1

      Pics or it didn't happen

Is the door of suitable width for you to pass through it?

        • +1

Did you see if there was a door opening anywhere?

        • +21

literally third time you made this same joke. we get it dude.

@cretin: he was conditioned to only say the following words.

          Door, Suitable, width, pass, through.

The way that it is formatted is dependent on irritability ratio and emotional scaring from no praise of creativity in the field of zingers.

I hope 50 homeless people get the free burgers.

    • A few years ago I used McDonald's wifi all the time because I had no connection. It got to the stage where I was spending every night there… Eventually a regular patron purchased 5 cheeseburgers and fries for me (I gather on the assumption I was in need). There was a guy who slept rough each night in an alcove nearby the store so I gave the food to him who graciously accepted. /coolstorybro.

McDonald's donate to the guide dogs and to sick kids and I don't know if homeless charities have the same ring for their brand. It would be good to see however other fast food chains like Carl's support the local community's most needy.

      • +1

McD dont donate, they simply pass the money patrons put in the box.

It gets me that they call it Ronald McDonalds house, when the truth is patrons paid for most if not all of it.

If they want to call it RMH, thats fine, but put the money in your self and let other charities put their own boxes inside shops.

    Melbourne please Mr Carl Jr

  • whats the condition? 1 free burger per day?

    • +2

Doubt it. More like 1 a week.

      • Plus the petrol to Mt Barker

  • +2

    Better hope the 51st person isn't packing a gun.😂

  • +3

Carl jr aka Hardee's is the best burger I've ever had, its a good thing theyre bringing them here, Australia is missing out on a lot of stuff already.

    • +1

I've never had it, but seems to be quite popular in the US. Not sure why all the hate in this thread.

    • +1

I have one about 4 doors down from my work in Tokyo. It's a solid burger, IMHO I would say somewhere between a Maccas premium range and a grilled. I prefer the 8bit or in America, 5 guys. However their grilled chicken burger is amazing.

    • When I had one in the UAE I thought it was amazing. However in the USA it seemed to be a lot like McDonald's ie nothing to write home about. I hope it's more like my UAE experience than my USA experience haha.

Also, in WA so probs won't get one for 14 years. (Still waiting on Costco, just got ALDI and H&M, etc)

      • +1

I'm in SA so probably won't get one for 20 years. Oh wait…

  • +1

lining up with the locals of Mt Barker for a year's free burgers?

    take a pass on that… :)

The morons lining up for that donut place for a free donut was ridiculous enough

  • +2

Looks like it will be an oz bargain meet and greet day.

  • +2

Come along. It'll be a riot.

  • Had it in Brisbane, not a huge fan at all.

      Good luck with that

Their onion rings are to die for, both literally and figuratively. Love them

No offence to SA peps, but Mt Barker out of all the locations in Australia? Really? It's not even in the metro area, and not densely populated.

Something special about Mt Barker we don't know about? Like biggest spending on burger? Just curious

    • +1

I had the same thought. The location is rapidly expanding but still wouldn't travel all the way up there just for a free burger.

That freeway is a nasty road to your brake pads on the way back down

      • See that's my point, the owner will miss out on 90% of SA populations' business. Would Mt barker population alone support this business? It's not that cheap I imagine.. People get tired of new thing after a while too, especially small town.

You decided to open a maiden burger joint in aus, but chose to go rural? Baffled me what the owners is thinking..good luck to him/her though.. Probably some farmer with cows straight to his restaurant. Haha

        • The one in NSW is in Bateau Bay, which is a good hour and a half drive from Sydney. Mind, it is quite a high tourist area (in the summer at least) and not at all a rural area, but still no where near as densely populated as anywhere in Sydney. All the locations are odd places, seems strange that they're avoiding stores in the cities where they would have more opportunity for higher numbers of consistent clientele.

    • I think it comes down to where they can find a franchisee… and the cost will be lower. Those locations are also good if you can get the community behind it.

      • You guys got the largest battery farm in the world backed by Tesla. Should be safe enough for foreseeable future

  • Hopefully they are better than Mc(Here's your cold fries with the burger not as you ordered it, served with a watery soft drink)Donald's.

  • +1

This will end badly, mark my words

  • Carl Jr's is waaaaay better than maccas…
took 'em long enough to set up store here.

though their price is about that of Hungry jack's master grill price

    • +1

Really? So they're marketing themselves in with Nordburger, Grill'd, Fancy Burger, Burger Foundry and Burger Theory?

      • Adelaide really does have some great burger places.

      • Burger republic as well

  • be prepared to pay sky high for a burger

  • Can't wait to personally meet President Camacho, brought to you by Carl's Jr!

  • +1

In N Out burgers for life.

    • In N Out giggity

  • For anyone that will be going, I can highly recommend the onion rings, chilli cheese fries and the chicken tenders. They also have REAL ranch sauce, the only place I've found in Australia that has the real thing and not some crappy wannabe. The Bateau Bay store has free unlimited drink refills, so I assume this new store will have the same.

  • +3

I got one of those vouchers when it opened in Bateau Bay.
1 burger per week, you can't choose which one, just whatever it is on the voucher. I think there's about 6 different burgers to choose from.
Tip: If you get one, be nice to the people serving you. It'll get tough going there every week. You will start to question yourself "What am I doing with my life?". But if you're nice, those people would let you claim the burger even if it's not for that week. Sometimes they let me claim more than one a day because I told them I couldn't go the week after. Things like that. Anyway, if I would get one again, I'd probably do it. But it will make you fat. Haha

  • 300 new stores to open across Australia? Please
send a few down to Hobart, hard to find a decent burger down here.

  • -1

Be nice if one was in Melbourne CBD ….but I recall in the USA Carl's are a cheap burger and if they try to be premium in Australia then they compete with Grilld who use fresh meat not frozen ….. …..I wish them luck as they work out their market segment …..
