Where to Sell Genuine Luxury Handbags and Wallets?

Hi, does anyone knows where in Australia or Online website can we sell used Luxury Handbags/Wallets/Shoes?

The brand I am talking about is LV, Gucci etc.

I see some people selling on eBay but in order to list second hand Luxury goods on ebay you need to provide the original receipts. (Which I can but it just have the persons details on it which isnt very nice to put on ebay for the world to see)

thanks heaps

Why don't you just blur the names out in the photos?

    • I can, but PayPal is a problem as they can claim its not Genuine even with the receipts.

      • They can't. The store would have a copy of the receipt as well.

If there was a PayPal dispute, you could provide a credit card statement to prove it was you.

        • Not purchased by me. Purchased by my sisters/mother/mother-in-law/wife. Now I have the task to sell them.

@house2015: May I ask why they are trying to sell them? I don't think many people looking to spend $2000 on a hand bag would buy off facebook/ebay/gumtree.

They'd go to a proper store. Or use a authorised reseller.

Ask your MIL for a copy of their credit card statement from when they bought them.

          @knick007:

Sure! Firstly I am male so I dont need shoes or bags or wallets:)

Secondly, whatever I sell I get to keep. (Which I am going to use to put down for a house deposit)

Yes I can get a copy of the credit card statement I suppose. But still hoping to get some decent money for them.

        • @knick007: definitely not true. I've sold heaps of my wife's used Lv, Prada, Ysl bags on eBay. I list them with the receipt, but remove personal details. Never had an issue as they're def genuine and I'm honest about condition in the listing.

Uh oh I'm male and I need shoes, I think I'm doing life wrong :(

        • @merivetio:

          Not female shoes……

          Or is it:)?

        • @house2015:

do you get to keep the money? if not, tell them to sell their own crap :)

        • @FW190:

Yes I do. I keep all the money to use for a house deposit. (Whenever thats gonna happen)

          @house2015: this can't possible fail

          @house2015:

Just wondering why you would spend thousands of dollars on bags when dont appear to have money for a house deposit?

  • -5

    You can sell to bikes.

    • +19

Not sure bikes have much use for handbags, not to mention their earning capacity to pay for such expensive items. Bikies on the other hand….

      • well played

  • Gumtree or Facebook?

    • +3

Tried both. Only very cheap offers. For example: LV Bag $2500 in Mint Condition, the most I got offered was $230.

LV Bag $2500 in Mint Condition, the most I got offered was $230.

What does a 2nd hand bag sell for on ebay?

You have to understand that these things have pretty bad resale value. People that can genuinely afford luxury bags wouldn't quibble of saving a few hundred dollars on FB/Ebay/Gumtree.

Further, there's always a few people on gumtree selling store credit for LV, Gucci, Tiffany for 30% discount on face value. You could probably negotiate a bigger discount if you put your mind to it. This pretty much reduces resale value of your $2500 bag to ~$500.

You might be able to talk up the person that offered $230 to $500. Unlikely you'll get anywhere near $1000.

        • While what you said is true, i would hope to get around 30% of the original value with the item been in mint conditions. I know in Hong Kong there are shops willing to pay for them at around 20% - 30% of the original value if item are in mint condition and if the style is not too old. Which they aren't.

        • @house2015: I've sold heaps for 10-20% under RRP. But all the bags are in good condition.

        • @bkx3virgin:

How did you sell them? FB/Gumtree/Ebay?

        • @bkx3virgin:

Can I ask where you sold them? eBay or private sale? And I am very surprised you are able to sell mint conditioned ones for only 10 - 20% under RRP. I be happy to get 30% of the original values and even thats bit hard to find any buyers.

        • @house2015:

Just saw above you sold on eBay. No problem from the buyers at all?

        • +1

@house2015: yes on eBay. Nope no problem. One was local buyer in Sydney. Another was to a buyer in the us. I was a bit skeptical at first but she bought two purses and paid by PayPal. That was 6 months ago.

I listed it in classifieds here too but no luck. Gumtree wasa waste of time. Low ball offer.

Try your luck with ebay. Especially when there's no listing fee promo.

        • @bkx3virgin:

Thanks for that. Looks like only eBay will get me some good prices then. Its interesting to see there is no other website or shops dedicated to selling second hand luxury goods.

    FB marketplace?

You will get lowballed no matter where you go.

A receipt is easy enough to fake etc; you could be subbing the real with a lower quality fake.

It is just too common practice; (with the quality of some copycats being quite good) to really "sell" such items.

    Family and friends?

    • Might give FB marketplace another try as I only tried a few times with FB marketplace.

    • Agree. Imo no matter what you do people will think it's a fake, receipt description is spot on, would just assume its fake receipt or genuine receipt with fake product. Is there a respected store which sells second hand bags or has a marketplace you could see through so that buyers see you and the bags as credible and legit?
      How many did you purchase?

      • Between the 6 of them. I have in total received 8 bags, 3 wallets, 2 pair of shoes.

Out of the 8 bags, 4 are in mint condition, 1 of the wallet are in mint condition, shoes I think I wont be able to sell at all.

And out of the 4 mint condition bags I have receipts for 3 of them, 1 wallet I also have receipts.

        • +1

I would rather spend the extra few hundred and buy a new, from store item than risk a second hand/fake.

I have seen some incredible fakes. Esp the wallets.

Why buy all this expensive stuff if you need to sell it later?

        • @eggmaster:

Not mine. Belongs to my family members

  • +1

I've seen lots of articles about the booming grey import market in China.

    Try googling 'daigou' 'wechat' 'weibo'.

Probably involves some effort, but it might be worth it, if you can figure it out.

    • No idea how would that work. Is it like eBay?

      • +1

I don't know the mechanics … you need to figure it out yourself!

        • Thanks, I will look into it.

        • @house2015:

Wechat is similar to Whatsapp but with extra features.
From what I learned in my brief use of WeChat, one of the prominent features used is something like a photo album. You can upload photos with description and people can see them.
So I assume sellers would upload items they are selling and buyers will browse through the photos.

        • @pandabun:

Just downloaded, looks bit like fb but with more features. Will give it a try

  • Reebonz?

    • Thanks, will look into it

    • Looks interesting, have you tried yourself?

      • I've bought from them before. I think you provide the original receipts to them and then they provide their own authenticity guarantee to the customer.

  • Stay away from eBay and Gumtree, the risk is very high with these items

    • Any good suggestions?

      • Friend of a friend. Surely it's better to be lowballed a bit by someone you know than be scammed by a stranger

  • +3

Sell it on the dark web using buttcoins.

  • +2

I think the Carousel marketplace is geared more towards your market. My sister buys luxury goods from there all the time.

    • Thanks, just downloaded, I just bought a Lego from someone on it. lol

      Meeting him this afternoon.

      Thanks for the headsup:)

  • Pm me!!

    • Sorry, what is Pm me mean???????

      • Personal/private message

      • Also 'personal/private masturbation'. Not sure which one Mummy means though. Find out yourself by pm'ing her.

    • replied, thanks and sorry for the late response

I suggest you have a talk to these guys, they do consignment sales and the rates look reasonable. Designer Archives
They are in Brisbane, in a high end CBD shopping centre . I haven't dealt with them before as I don't have handbags or luxury goods.

    • My brother is in Brisbane, I will get him to suss it out. Thanks:)

  • Yes same here. I have a genuine still in the box LV zippy wallet trying to sell, but afraid to get ripped off on ebay and gumtree.

    • There are some good advise in the comments already:)

    • I tried to message you as I am looking for a LV zippy wallet, but was unable to. Please message me if you are interested in selling.

  • I dont know about bags and stuff, but I sold a few luxury mens watches (tag/omega type) I didnt even list anything like a reciept - and this was all on ebay. I just put nice close up photos an accurate description, contact details, location and encouraged all inspections. After the owner had purchased I sent him all the reciepts with the watch and store details and everything. He called me a couple times during transaction, we exchanged a few texts and everything was sweet but he never visited. I got almost 80% of what I originally paid and 50% of RRP as I originally bought a bargain.

  • OP - what are you selling? I sent you a message in your messages folder too!

    Check out www.revoir.com.au.

Looks like their business model may line up well with your objectives.

    • +1 to this

    • Thanks, I will look into it)

  • Just talked to gf about this ( she is wayyyyy too into these kinds of bags haha ) and she said she would buy a second hand one but not from eBay and she specifically mentioned a site called "fashionphile" which authenticate them or something like that to protect the buyer.

  • +1

Reebonz is the Aussie version of Vestiare Collective, i.e. website reselling second-hand high-end goods. I don't know how much commission they take though.

    • +1

70% of the sold price, just checked:)

      • Sorry are you saying they keep 70% of the sold price?

        • +2

No, you get to keep 70% of the sold price determent by them. So they set the sell price and you get 70% of the whatever they think its worth.

  • +2

Facebook groups!!!! A good one is "HIGH END", you'll have to ask your friends if anyone's a part of it to add you because it's a secret group. There's 50,000 members on that page and it's very active. Another one is "Louis Vuitton & Chanel Lovers Australia" the girls there sell a lot of designer brands and such :-)

    • thanks for that, that is helpful

  • PM me on what you are selling please!

On another note, FB Group is best bet. Have sold few luxury stuff at Gumtree, a bit hard but got lucky. In the end, you only need one buyer for each item you are selling. But yes, Gumtree is full of low ballers.

    • Hi, can you send me your email please? I will forward the photos to you. thanks

  • Try two sites - Reebonz and The Real Real - both only accept genuine product and take consignment. I've bought from them and happy with items authenticity - some Bvlgari limited pieces etc.
I've sold genuine Gucci and Cartier with receipts on eBay but a few years back, before the import fake gates opened so freely. FB Marketplace is bottom feeder prices, wouldn't touch that.
    Good luck :)

    • Thanks for that, I have checked out the Reebonz, will check out The Real Real.

  • +1

I have some handbags and wallets to sell too! Anyone is interested?

  • High End on Facebook, or The Real Real. Reebonz doesn't have a very good reputation (mainly for misrepresenting the state of used products).

    • I tried searching for High End on facebook but too many random ones popped up. Can you please share the entire name and location of the group so I can narrow it down? I'm thinking about selling some of my bags (Prada/YSL) and shoes (Tods/Jimmy Choo) Thanks

  • Where abouts are you located? I know a friend in Melbourne CBD with a second hand luxury shop, she can commission your items for you. I'm not sure about the rates though as I never sold anything but if you're interested I can ask for you.

    • Hi, I am in Perth:(

      Land of the boring……..

  • Have you got any genuine Chanel items in great condition? PM me.

    • Sorr dont have any Chanel
