Yep, exactly. Free WiFi is usually pretty easy to find in most places, especially at hotels/hostels.
And you can also use it to make a call to a local number there if you are bludging off WiFi.

and I think once you activate the credit goes inactive on 180days but then you can easily reactivate again so thats good
And to avoid having to reactivate, all you have to do is send a text or make a call before expiry, even an unsuccessful one.

Although I haven't purchased the skype subscription, I do see the bundled offer. However, it shows up on one of my laptops but not the other. Turns out its opening different URL's despite the fact that I went to the subscriptions page using the same method on both laptops.
To see the offer, the URL should have "bundled" after the equal sign and not "empty". You can change the URL manually or click the link below. Select Australia 300 mins mobiles and landlines which cost $9 per month and comes with office 365 included. Follow DirtySteve's steps to get it cheaper.

Unfortunately the latest update to Skype on mobile phones has completely ruined it. They've turned it into a social media wannabe application instead of a communication tool. Full of bugs, a terrible redesign and you can no longer see who is online.
Since new Android update I'm unable to use Skype SMS to phone feature.
Hope they fix it soon.
Last time I bought one of these, used about half on 1 holiday, then Microsoft took away my remaining balance before my next holiday…

It is a good deal but I believe the steep hike in call connection fees for each call being made has ruined the fun of cheap calling (unless you are on subscription mode).

My favourite use for Skype credit is when you need to call your bank while overseas to report a lost card or fraudulent transaction. Can easily spend half an hour on hold, which gets very expensive using roaming.
