This looks like a sneaky ploy by someone who just opened a Lolly Shop in Newcastle and is creating an opening to discuss & promote their store …. (Grabs popcorn)

  • Go to Coles?

Cheaper than any lolly shop… I don't know how they survive, seems like a really bad business proposition.

apparently typing "lolly shops in newscastle" into google may yield results.

    • +1

Noo… It can't be that simple?

      • it's a new system/service that has popped up recently on the "World Wide Web" or "Internet".

OP probably hasn't heard of it

        • I do really need to get on the line

    • Ha Ha!

      Like this?

      http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Lolly+shop+Newcastle

Of course I googled first. However, that lead me to Ubuntu* which is not a Lolly store nor a computer store.

*Not really just lead me to small Lolly store which was hardly worth the trip.

because it just seems too hard for you.

        • First: Sweet Traditions is not a 4 star lolly shop it is way to small and thus the necessity for information.

Second: Please understand, just because the location of lolly stores can be found online does not mean that I have the time or the desire to visit them all.

        • @Fortuna21:

does not mean that I have the time or the desire to visit them all.

So wtf do you want us to do? Short-list them for you?

      • Search Ubuntu on Newcastle as to why that's a problem.

  • As the title implies I'm looking for a Lolly shop in Newcastle.

Because of this I ask that you post your recommendations for Lolly shops near Newcastle in this thread.

As you are only implying, I have posted my recommendations in some other thread.

In order answer any of your future questions, indeed I am a big kid.

    What does that mean?

    • *In order to answer any of your future questions, indeed I am a big kid.

Because there is a negative connotation around a grown ass adult buying candy, and some posts might of been focused on age related jokes.

  • +1

It only occurred to me a few months back that 'lollies' is merely the shortened version of 'lollipops'.

My nomination for 'Deep Thinker of the Year' is secure.

    • +2

      Lolly came before lollipop…

Did your head just explode? 😂

      • What?

        Ah goddangit.

        Did not!

Get out of here with your alternate facts.

My 'DTOTY' will arrive because… Just because. It sounds true therefore it is!

  • The Reject Shop?

The truth is I'm after American candy and drinks such as Root beer, Twinkies, pop tarts e.t.c.

    • +4

Maybe you should open with what you actually want/sell

    • You're sure that's not an alternative wish?

    • There's a place in The Junction that sells imported lollies and drinks. I can't think of the name of it right now, but if you imagine the shopping centre there, then wander down Glebe Rd one block towards the city, in the direction of Avviderci and the statue/monument thing, you'll find it there.

  • +1

so we finally know what you are actual after in terms of "American lollies and drinks."

I've got this wonderful device in my house (and a portable one I can carry with me) called a telephone.

"tele" comes from Greek and means "far off", and "phone" comes from Greek for "Voice" or "sound"

in some cultures they shorten telephone to "phone", then there are variations of the names for the portable telephones, such as "mobile phone" or "cell phone".

But I digress, the phone is an instrument that transmits sounds over long distances, like shouting does, but with less effort and greater effect.

with out going in to to much detail, in the list of lolly shops posted above are the names, addresses and phone numbers.

so you can "call" each shop by using a "telephone" and asking them if they supply american lollies and drinks.

it's a crazy concept (not just the transmission of sound via electronic transmission but) the entire concept of talking on the phone!!!

Do you know what condescending means?

It means when you talk down to someone.

The reason for asking, is that people in this thread seem to be unconsciously mocking me and this wonderful thread :).

Which is perfectly fine, as the old saying goes ask a stupid question get stupid answers.

Regardless, I hold no grudges or feel the need for pity mockery. However, if you do feel the need for my comeback you can scrape it off your:

      Girlfriend's*
      Wife's*
      Boyfriend's*
      Mum's*

      teeth.

      Assuming they are still alive*.

Please know the above is a joke, and that I love the community at Ozbargain.

      • Please know the above is a joke

        Jimmy Carr's, actually.

        • He didn't say his joke (technically).

        • +1

          @John Kimble:

Nor will I claim the joke as my own.

Ironically It's not even Jimmy Carr's.

      • +2

I would not say people are being "condescending".

It's more a case of sheer bafflement at your total inability to undertake any search of your own.

the fact that you can't perform a simple search on the internet just beggars belief.

have you called any of those lolly shops (that have been handfeed to you) to inquire about american lollies and drinks?

        or does ineptitude prevail?

there is no "unconscious mocking" it is (again) bewilderment at your lack of search and investigative skills and the train wreck that this post is.

there is nothing "wonderful" about this thread.

Did any of the 8 lolly shops listed previously assist you with your inquiries?

        • "It's more a case of sheer bafflement at your total inability to undertake any search of your own."

As stated I did Investigate before starting this thread. The real question is why people instantly assumed otherwise?

"the fact that you can't perform a simple search on the internet just beggars belief."

Good point… If the purpose of the thread was to get a list of lolly shops in Newcastle.

In reality the thread was asking for people's personal opinions on Lolly shops (to find good ones) in Newcastle and this information is not available online.

          Understand the difference?

"have you called any of those lolly shops (that have been handfeed to you) to inquire about american lollies and drinks?"

Quick search online for Lolly shops that sold American lollies and had good reviews lead me to sweet treats.

Unfortunately, this lolly shop was really small and not worth the trip.

Regardless, I apologise for asking people for their opinion and will never do that again.

          Does that make you happy?

        • @Fortuna21:

As stated I did Investigate before starting this thread. The real question is why people instantly assumed otherwise?

          First line:

As the title implies I'm looking for a Lolly shop in Newcastle.

Implies you haven't searched at all (with the exception of 1 singular store), and it wasn't till much later on that we discovered what exactly you were after.

Your whole post has been like pulling teeth, like you were being coy about giving answers.

        • @Spackbace:

The only reason that I added the line about American confectionery was to help ease people off my back.

"Your whole post has been like pulling teeth, like you were being coy about giving answers"

First: Why are you complaining? You never helped once and thus spent little to no effort on this thread.

Regardless, that point is mute as you could of easily ignored this thread.

You're the one that choose to mock and so that's your issue.

Furthermore, it's not hard to give a reasonable answer to this thread just take a look at both Unistudent and steggles replies.

So before this thread is locked I'd like to say my thanks to both of them and that I appreciated their matured responses.

          One last note:

Please Please stop SpaceBack I really don't to feud with you.

However if you continue I'll drag up your past. Let's not forget what brought you to your current position ;).

        • @Fortuna21:

However if you continue I'll drag up your past. Because let's not forget what brought you to your current position ;).

          Wtf you on about?

        • @Fortuna21:

What? My position as a Power User was because I just kept reporting deals that needed to be fixed. And we now have more Power Users than ever before so it's not like anyone gets fired.

Or is there something else on your mind?

Do you always talk in riddles and lack the ability to just get to the point?

        • @Spackbace:

You got let go, than someone took pity on you and gave you a new job at cash rewards.

Please know I don't rely on others to bail me out of messes.

        • @Fortuna21:

          I don't work at CashRewards…

          What drugs are you on?

        • @Spackbace:

Wait than who got fired and than hired at CashRewards?

Might be a case of mistaken identity if so I apologise to the other user (Cash rewards is awesome).

          To answer the second question:

          I'm not on drugs.

But I bet good odds that you're on the spectrum.

  • Lollies n Things in The Entrance. I think the Entrance is close to Newcastle. If not - hey, at least I tried to help.

Also, Lollies n Things is reasonably priced and is almost all American/international stuff!

    • +1

Is it in the Lolly District?

      • yes it's the Lolly complex on third.

    • The Entrance is on the Central Coast, so an hour or so away.

Speaking of The Entrance, apparently a long (long) time ago some mini-skirts were called Gosford skirts, because they were so close to The Entrance.
