Anyone Using MyRepublican NBN, What's Your Experience?

Hello everyone, i am looking for some good NBN deal in market. I read about myrepublican NBN, they have good deal with upto 100Mbps speed for $59.99 (thanks to ozbargainers for sharing). The reviews online are really poor however i spoke to couple of people i know who got that service and said once things are working there are no issues and they are happy.

I did chat to 3 of their chat agents and experience was they just want to get off the chat and not as customer focused as you see other companies in Australia.

Are you using this service provider, what's your experience?

MyRepublic (no republicans here). They have really poor customer service, take ages to get connected, kept billing after disconnection etc. Not worth the hassle. Try Buzz or hold out for another coupon/code

    • Thanks. Buzz chat and customer communication definitely better from my experience just now when comparing with MyRepublic. I will give then a shot considering they are similar price but no additional fee as I don't want modem.

As everyone is reselling in effect the same product, the differences in the price reflect purely the customer service you'll get if you have to contact them. I pay a bit more for Internode as they've got a local call centre and they tend to jump directly on a problem if I call up

lol - enjoy your overpriced tpg

not true at all. look up CVC

    Yes, and loving it.

  • You won't likely get the speed you pay for, it's almost impossible given their pricing and how much NBN charges them to access the NBN.

I'm with Myrepublic. No dramas, good ISP so far

Been with MyRepublic for about five months now. Took them a bit to get connected, same story as everyone else. Their support does need some work, but other than that, brilliant. I've been quite happy with their service and speeds.

    • What's it like doing a speed test in peak time to Wests Coast US, Singapore, HK, Tokyo?

      • +1

to Ikebukuro last night ping was 120ms and speeds were 600mbps and 360mbps upload, to California it was 700mbps and 370mbps with a ping of 100ms

I will try HK tonight during peak time and Singapore, as MR are a Sing company though the speed tests on the .sg speedtest site were pretty damn good

  • Im getting terrible speeds during peak and I seriously warn anyone looking at them
I can get 100/40 to their speedtest and to any speedtest server nearby but can barely get 2mbps to any other server
Its so bad I cant game on it

When I first signed up in Feb it was fine, now its unusable
Tech support keeps blaming 'coexistence period' and claim I shouldn't have an issue because i can get 100/40 on speed test…

Outside of peak times its 100/40 and fine…
    Avoid like the plague

    • Its so bad I cant game on it

did you pay for a real ip address and connection?

I did have a small dip in speeds today from around 5pm to 6pm where it dropped from 850mbit to 650mbit but then went straight back up afterwards to normal

      • Yeah I'm on their gamer plan

        • apparently if you're in an active DSL area they have that coexistence thing, could be real, could be bs….

          are you using speedtest.myrepublic.com.au ?
this is my test right now, im quite happy with them…im behind their awful CGNAT crap though I didn't pay for the gamer pack, although I will do next month because this sucks I can't run any services or forward ports

          but look here…
          http://testmy.net/quickstats/hybridx

        • @hybridx: if you read the link it explains what it is and during co-existence period NBN Co only ever guarantee 12/1

the minimum performance of the line that NBN Co will "guarantee" is 12/1.

thats prob why MR dont wanna do anything with it

what POI is it ? you should check if any other people are complaining

        • haha yeah but look i'm getting 100/40 from MyRepublic and 2 from the testmy.net server one test after the other
It rules out the co-existance because my traffic has got past the local nodes and out to sydney and back with no problem
If I got 25/10 from the MyRepublic speed test then yeah it would be a coexistance problem

          POI 5EZB (Elizabeth)

I got mates on Telstra on the same Service Area Module (5NUR-01 (Nuriootpa 01)) and they have no issues what so ever

        • @hybridx: I'm not too sure I trust the testmy.net stuff, look at this result

          then testmy

          http://testmy.net/db/BzkaM51g3.YcCHoplWQ

I can see Aussie BB and Internode customers complaining about your POI online… I guess most ISPs wont give a (profanity) and just blame co-existence until it goes away after the 12 months

see if you can install smoke ping on something and it will completely log your connection
