SD card adapter is a bit useless.
Usually when you buy a microSD card, it comes with one (unless you specifically look for one without it to save a dollar, because you already have one)

  No, electronic thermometers use thermoresistors.
  
  Only the glass type thermometers use mercury. Sometimes coloured alcohol.

Appears to be a similar digital thermometer in OzBargain earlier this year. Problem with it is the long time to measure the temperature. Not many sick and irritable young kids will sit still and allow you to put a probe in their mouths for 1 minute.
