    Hi,

    Sportex makes everything in Germany.
    DAM and Balzer are also German brands, but I am not sure how much is made in Germany.

  The last reel to be built in Germany was the Quick Royal MDS (Magnetic Drag System) in 1994. Since then, all the rods & reels (excluding one) are Chinese re-branded original equipment manufacturer (OEM) products. The one reel, Quick Retro is designed and tested in Germany, but built by Okuma in Asia.

    As far as I know you cannot find any reel that DAM makes anywhere else but within DAM range, which contradicts the OEM statement. Moreover, in the past 3 years alone DAM has received numerous awards for best reels in numerous categories, including a high speed spinning reel with the highest gear ratio in the world (9.1:1), best "affordable" saltwater spinning reel ( DAM Combat), etc.
    Check their website and FB page.
    I can assure you that the DAM reels quality is very high and they all are backed by a 5 year warranty.
    Especially since they are part of Svendsen Sports group.

    Don't trust Wikipedia for more than history and science…And never 100%.

      I think my question was not about the quality of the reels and how many awards they received. The question was, where were the reels made?

      Don't take this wrong, I own many Chinese made reels.

      I am a collector, therefore, the location of where the reels are made is important to me.
