Driving with Uber

Has anyone become a driver for Uber and how much do you make roughly a week, what do you think about it/have you come across any teething issues/complicated riders?

Considering doing driving to help my pay off my finance on the car.

Thanks

  • Tried it for 1 day simply out of curiosity had a day off, the msr was away, no friends were free and I had signed up 3 months prior but never used it. Made about $120 in revenue over 7 hours or so, however there was alot of stand by and most fares were like $7-$15 so it really felt like a hustle/grind. I never did the math to deduct fuel/wear and tear etc as it was 1 day. For me personally I felt I could make more with my time on other things so I never bothered, but I could really see the charm in it for those people whom have unskilled jobs or struggling to find work etc. You just up and earn $120 a day easy which is better than nothing or constantly being turned down for interviews. That is great money. But if your earning $30-$50 an hour during the week, is it really worth doing $15 an hour weekend? That was a frame of thinking.

Edit: this was a friday weekday from about 11am to 7pm approx. I have heard that the people that do weekend nights can make $1500 in revenue however never tried

    • Thanks for the info

Which state do you reside in?
I caught an uber around 2am this morning and the driver was telling me how he made about $700 last week. Guess it's trial and error and also where the passenger is going

      • that's probably not including running costs like car wear and tear, petrol, cleaning, service, insurance and also you have to pay tax quarterly too. Do the math and you end up getting paid less than minimum wage.

Its alright for in between jobs etc, but not as a career unless you're working full time for it.

  • Im in Sydney. Yea its real hit and miss. But as uber is becoming popular drivers earn less. Just look at uber and compare it to any other options you have.
