Citibank Signature Rewards - Spending Points on Amazon

Just a heads up for anyone still with Citibank Rewards points. You can spend these on Amazon by linking your card rewards at https://www.amazon.com/gp/shopwithpoints/marketing.html?pr=s…

I just blew all my remaining points on a Macbook Pro. Much better value than going through the normal Citi rewards shop.

  • How many points did you use for the Macbook pro? What is the price if paid in cash?

    • The Macbook was more than I had the points for. I drained my entire account and paid the balance in cash. Macbooks are not cheap - the spec I got was about $2700 USD. The point is that I got this for very little cash outlay (even though I'll be up for the GST when it comes in country).

        so how many points?

      • is that I got this for very little cash outlay

You were given the points in exchange for paying using a credit card and you spent at least 50 times as much cash as the mac cost to get it.

This payment method features a reward for spending money and no sense of physical loss that is attached to a cash transaction. The credit card providers main goal is to cause you to spend as much cash as possible. Almost all credit card users spend more money than they would have had they not owned the credit card.

I've just checked. It seems each point is worth ~0.5c. Tried with 3 different items from different sellers including amazon export.

    • Would that be AUD or USD? Thanks.

Citibank rewards points are getting worse. I used to get gift cards, and I remember it being 15k for $100 a few years ago. Then 17k. Now it's 21k for $100!

What kind of inflation is that?

They also dropped the earn to 1 Point per dollar spent
    Used to be 1.5
