  • Cheapest it has been by my count.

Edit: unless you count the $5 postage

  • Do they have a large one?

  • This or the garmin vivo active hr?

    • Garmin.

    • Garmin vivo active hr+ has built in gps

  • Fitbit won't be in business much longer; their support for android is laughable so don't even consider them unless your using a Samsung Galaxy or Apple iPhone. They've fallen behind in the last few years; people are moving to smart watches rather than just trackers and Fitbit has nothing decent to offer.

I had a Fitbit Blaze and it was terrible; have sold it and moved to Garmin.

They just announced a 2nd Quarter loss of 58Mil USD.

Didnt know that Samsung Galaxy phones are not running Android anymore. Thanks for your enlightenment.

      • Let me clarify; the only new devices on their compatible device list are Samsung S8; Google Pixel and Apple iPhone. Their support for other android manufacturers is terrible. The S8 and Google Pixel were only added last month.

Examples of unsupported devices are: Moto Z, Moto G4 Plus, Moto Z Play, HTC One, OnePlus2/3T, Huawei P9, Xperia Z5, LG G4, LG G5, LG V20, etc.

I get what you meant now, after checking out a bit more on their compatibility list. Apologies for that rash comment earlier.

Not sure what your exact experience was with the Blaze, but I've got one and am pretty happy with it. Using a LG G4, all my notifications come through (Skype, Whatsapp, Email, SMS, Calls, Calendar, etc).

I've been using it everyday since APR 2016 and hasn't had any issues at all.

I do agree with your statements though regarding Fitbit's performance in shares, it ain't looking good, and some of their products are getting out-dated rather quickly.

In case anyone is wondering, I've also got the Charge 2, HR, Zip, One, and the Aria. Missus is using the Charge 2 (synced to LG G3) and she's very happy with it. You can buy third party made bands from Ebay for quite cheap (<$10).

      • I've got a LG G4 and agree the Blaze worked fine with it. No luck with my Moto Z though. I've had the Fitbit Ultra, One and Blaze. The One is a great device, the Blaze on the other hand just doesn't work with most new handsets.

There is 28 pages of complaints from Samsung S8 owners who still can't get features like notifications and connected GPS tracking to work even though it's now in the compatible device list.

My aim here is to prevent pain to fellow ozbargainers, Fitbit is a sinking ship. They've only added two devices to the compatibility list in 2017 but will tell you everyday how they are constantly testing and adding new devices to the list.

        • Agree with everything you've said, it is a sinking ship and is worst when new users have issues with syncing.

Garmin is definitely picking up popularity with their devices, no doubt. The only people that are sticking with Fitbit are the ones who have invested in the Fitbit ecosystem. I have data in Fitbit since 2012 (steps from tracker, and weight from the Aria). I find Fitbit's UI more pleasant then other brands, but that's my my opinion.

For new comers whose data isn't already stored in Fitbit, Garmin is a pretty safe bet.

        • @chuns: 2012 is when I got my Ultra.

FYI you can import your Fitbit data into Garmin.

    • Are you referring to how you now need to enable gps to sync with the fitbit?

      • -1

No, the Blaze doesn't have a GPS so you need to have it connected using Bluetooth to your phone and start an exercise in the blaze.

It then will map your position for the run on map using phones GPS data.

Getting the two to talk is difficult.

    • Mod: Removed accusation.

Fitbit just posted a revenue of $353 million. Sales are up 14%.
Also the #1 fitness app on iPhone.
      https://investor.fitbit.com/press/press-releases/press-relea…

      • Fitbit revenue is plummeting; from July 2016 at 586mil to 353mil so revenue is down significantly.

        Sales are up 14% from Q1 2017 but down 40% on Q2 2016.

Fitbit definitely seem to be focusing on iPhone which is my main gripe. They are selling devices saying it's compatible with android when in reality their compatible device list contains very few flagship or even 12-18 month old handsets.

You only need to read all the complaints from customers on the Fitbit Android forum.

Fitbit's only straw left is the release of their smartwatch later this year, a lot is riding on this.

    • I'd say the industry is moving more towards trackers than smart watches on account of them being cheaper, smaller, and having batteries that last more than 1-2 days. The Xiaomi Mi Band is a great example.

      • The Xiaomi Mi band is only popular because it's cheap.

        • I don't think that's true. I wouldn't have given it a second thought just because it was cheap - what drew me to it was the battery life and size. Most smartwatches are big and chunky, and more importantly they have to be charged every 1-2 days. The Mi Band is nice and small and lasts almost a month on a 2 hour charge. Most of the fitbits are going the same way design wise, and are working on getting batteries lasting a week or so.

Having owned and returned 4 fitbits (two fitbit HR's and two Charge 2's) with the bands breaking, I would stay away from them.

    Garmin are better IMO.

    • Yeah, I've had two replaced from the bands have split apart. One replacement came and it had a dead flat battery…

    • We had them as xmas presents from work, all of them needed to be returned within a year due to breaking straps and faulty screens,
1/10 would never buy them again… mine doesnt even sync to my phone anymore.

    • Bought my FB HR in 2015 and it's still holding up.
      Even showered with the thing.
But I think I'll go to Garmin.
