Which Toyota Tarago to Go for?

Hi,

I was browsing through Toyota Tarago to buy and I went across a few. What do you guys think about these?

2008 Toyota Tarago GLi Auto mileage 125131 $15999 - dealer

2009 Toyota Tarago GLi Auto MY08 mileage 111,445 $15800 - dealer

2010 Toyota Tarago GLi Auto MY09 mileage 107820 $17950 - dealer

2011 Toyota Tarago GLi Auto MY09 mileage 161791 $16500 - private

I do hope to get best value out of it. Any advice on these Tarago when inspecting? Do you normally pay the price as shown or what strategies you use to bring the price down?

Thanks for your opinion.

  • Get a second hand Camry instead.

    • Have to be 8 seaters though. That would be my option if i am after sedan.

      • +1

        Two Camrys then!

        • Two Camrys then!

Two safety checks, two ctp, two rego, two tpp, two parking fees.

Definitely not the ozbargain way to own a vehicle.

        • That's ten seats. too many.

        • @Euphemistic:

Remove two seats, extra room to store eneloops?

  • How about the Toyota Estima's? Luxury version of the taragos.

    2009 Toyota Estima Aeras Auto 86,159km - $18,500 - dealer

Note that it is a 7 seater and not an 8 seater but it has
    - fold down rear seats,
    - flip down monitor,
    - V6 engine (if you're interested)
    - reversing camera
    - push to start
    - electric doors

Downside is that the headunit is in japanese

    • Too bad it has to be 8 seaters. 7 seaters has a lot more choices.

  • All much the same. Pick the one that looks in the best condition or your favourite colour.

  • +1

personally, I'd go for this 1991 tarago for $2,950 with 213,800 km

that's like $13,000 less than what those other are but it does have more Ks. but then you can throw some money at it for cosmetic improvements- respray, mags, subwoofer, seat covers, fluffy dice, etc

    • Don't think my wife will like this option. Any car higher than 150000km is a bit scary for us as a noob. Haha.

      • fair enough.

when we bought our diesel 7 seater outlander we had 2 choices - a near new model -with 13,000kms on the clock- or a brand new model. pointing out that they were the exact same model and the near new was $14,000 cheaper sort of swayed my wife.

put it forward to her. point out that having a $3000 car only warrants third party insurance which is cheaper than comprehensive (already a saving). plus taragos (toyota people movers) go and go. maybe you'll get another 100,000kms out of it (quite common to over 300,000ks out of a tarago). that one I linked is dual fuel (again LPG is cheaper). $12,000 saving you can use in other ways.

        just saying.
